Can you try this?
- Go to %USER%\Saved Games\Respawn\Apex\local\ and locate the txtfile
- Open it in a text editor and set the value fullscreento 1
- Save the change and close the file.
- In the file explorer, right click videoconfig.txt then select "Properties"
Make sure the attribute "Read-only" is checked.

Guys, i have game in full screen when i play it. Maybe i badly explained my situation. I still compare 2 games, where i had same problem, Battlefield 5 and Apex Legends.
Problem is, that when i play game in full screen, i can see volume overlay, when +/- sound, and i should not see it, because this is sign, that game is not running in exclusive full screen, but in Windows optimised full screen. I did some search on google, there is not lot info about it, but latest Windows build made this problem. (Windows devs made "disable full screen optimisation" thing in game .exe properties for better performance, but my games run much worse).
Battlefield 5 - I had this problem (playing game in full screen with volume overlay on screen), and i had same issue, mouse cut in horizontal changing view, shooting and overally not smooth gameplay. I had this problem untill latest Battlefield 5 update. That update fixed my issue, now i run Battlefield 5 in exclusive/true full screen, no volume overlay on screen, no mouse cut or any lag and smooth gameplay.
Now i have same problem for Apex Legends i descibed above ( see volume bar, mouse is lagging and game is not running smooth). I tried everything i found on google, but i think that i will need to wait for new Windows build (in April) or update for Apex Legends, that will fix my problem. To be honest, i do not know, what developers of Battlefield 5 did, but i hope, someone from Apex Legends developers read this and maybe can adress my issue. And of course, if you had same issue, or might know how to resolve my problem, thank you for any tip.
*Zeelmaekers: i already tried it with easier method. 🙂- 7 years ago
This might be a feature the devs. are currently working on.
Do keep in mind the game is entirely free and recently published.
It takes time, funds and effort to fully polish the game to the max.
I myself run every game in border less window, because I'm using 2 monitors. 1 for the game, 1 for the community forum and or youtube. And I don't experience any performance drops at all.Classic Full screen would force you alt-tab inbetween screens in order for you to drag your cursor on to the 2nd screen.
Are you certain there's a problem with windows 10?
Do keep in mind most games are running in windowed mode nowadays. For reasons unknown to me, and I can't see why this would be an annoyance to anyone, but that's just my opinion.
You could try altering config files and settings.
Try running the game on a windows 7 build to see if the game actually supports the classic full screen mode.- 7 years ago
I hoped it is Win 10 problem, because i did not have this problem with older windows 10 build. 🙂 I have this problem in games since big October Windows update. I think, that something broke in .exe/shortcut properties, so "disable full screen optimisation" under compatibility table is not working (at least for me). But it was fixed by BF5 developers, so Apex Legends developers might fix it too, i just do not know how to describe it better. 🙂 I enjoy this game a lot, but really sometimes cant aim on enemy soldier in move, because mouse will cut and this cost me live. Ill try look on Apex Legends config (videoconfig.txt) and on Nvidia control panel settings for Apex.
Hopefully this will be fixed by Windows developers / Apex Legends developers / my system, otherwise my gameplay will not be smooth. I enjoy this game a lot, my 1st battle royal. Will see, what time brings, but fell free to share your tips, i will try anything i did not try yet. 🙂
Thanks.
