would be much nice if there was no DDOS

I'm glad if there are other people who are getting something out of this season, but it definitely wasn't put together with a player like me in mind.

It is simple to see what they are doing, they are sacrificing its old player base to the TTV and streamers, that keeps eyes on the game and the new style attracts new players. I heard they are using the wildcard to test stuff that will become part of the game, and probably how they will come out with Apex legends 2. Now when they finalize Apex Legends 2 the old player base will come back. Win win for them but bad for any long time player.

Is there anyone left who still streams this game? Are there any Apex creators left anywhere?
The only new players this game attracts anymore are old players firing up new accounts to beat the matchmaker. But what the dev is doing with Wildcard is test-bedding features that they think will make the game feel new to old players. Because we all signed up six years ago... so that we could wait six years for the game to evolve into something we want to play. Because apparently it wasn't already that six years ago. You know, when it had millions upon millions of genuinely new players, not just the same old tired 100k cycling endlessly through one new secondary after another.
You know, sarcasm aside, they're probably right. Gamers have the attention spans of toddlers and if they've said anything in a unified voice it's that they want a faster game that's more forgiving. That's another way of saying that they don't have the patience for an eighteen minute match, and they most certainly don't want kills or deaths to have any real meaning. They just want endless gunplay uninterrupted by re-queues and lobbies. Hello, Wildcard. The thing is... all they had to do was go play Halo or Call of Duty or Valor or Counter Strike or literally any one of a dozen other games with small maps, small teams, and a kill count. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Why are there so many people playing battle royale games when they don't like multi-team pile ups, looting, waiting, strategizing, planning, or executing methodically and with patience, or basically anything that makes battle royale different from an arena shooter?

How is a more competitive ranked system (proven by ranked distribution graphs), a fun mode for trying out new things in, considered bad for the old player base? I've been playing since day one and I wanted this kind of thing for years. I finally have a mode to play if my friends are offline and it's such a blast. I don't see how anyone hates these changes.
- 75gyrrw8b2uc2 months agoSeasoned Traveler
Wildcard isn't replacing ranked or even pubs, it's just an added game mode. So I don't get why there's hate directed at it. It's been perceived as positive overwhelmingly.
And ranked was just a kill race before but now you can play zone and do very well, it's far more akin to algs, which is the goal for a competitive mode. I've been a day 1 player and I am welcoming all these changes with open arms.
Sure there could be a better mixtape playlist, but I'm happy with wildcard because I know there will be changes to it and they'll keep it interesting. Why not just enjoy the changes now and play the game mode that is similar to your goals?

This is a review from Steam, I didn't want to start a new thread, so I'll leave it here. Very good update.
It's just a shame you removed the armor from Season 20, February 2024.
https://www.ign.com/wikis/apex-legends/Apex_Legends_Season_20_Patch_Notes_&_Breakout_Update_Details
It was unnecessary; the fight also involved looting cover and tactics in the finale. Even the sight of them reminded many people of Quake. Those armors were beautiful; after that change, a lot of people abandoned the game when the cores came in. I hope the armors return; they were beautiful. You flattened the game to even out the combat, but that's what the fight was mainly about, looting enemies of their golden red armor.
STEAM:
The game is perfectly optimized – 100% max settings and the GPU runs passively at times. RX 6600 8GB, 45GB RAM, Ryzen 5600. Smooth 120 FPS. Year 2025.
Apex Legends™: “SHOWDOWN”
August 22, 2025
Major gameplay change:
Currently, each squad gets its own dropship over the map area, meaning everyone has their own zone:Pros:
- Drastically reduced dying within the first seconds after landing
- Time to pick up items
- You know where enemies will be
- Significantly lower frustration levels
At first, it worked great because you could reach the center of a side zone, but I don’t know what happened—does this only work well on one map? Or only where the terrain is flat? The problem is that lately you can’t even attack the neighboring zone, you can’t even reach the edge of your own zone. Forget about showing an air emote or a holospray. The dropship is too close to the ground to finish its animation; you can’t even glide anymore. Maybe it depends on the terrain layout? If there’s a slope, can we fly further into lower ground?
Cons:
- Everyone knows where enemies will be
- You can’t reach your zone’s borders, let alone launch an assault on an enemy landing zone.
- Forced landing zones and the inability to push into a better zone mean that X teams will land in an area with good loot and have a better start; this should be balanced somehow.
Good changes:
Faster cooldowns and increased limits for these legends made them much less useless:- Bangalore
- Caustic
- Wattson
Legends that are still underwhelming:
- Catalyst – Spikes: Only 2 charges? At least make it 4, ideally 5.
- Valkyrie – Missile Swarm: Ever since I’ve been playing Apex, these have done no damage whatsoever, except for scaring people because they’re flying toward them =]. They should either deal more damage, be guided, or leave napalm on the impact zone.
ADD:
I'd also like to see them add head rotation when running sideways, because the animation already shows a character hanging from a wall, so they can rotate their head while hanging. The same should be true when running. It gives a wider view when fleeing into battle.EDIT: May 17, 2025
THE GAME IS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING NOW… It’s never been this bad.
90% of squads land on 6 opposing squads – it’s pure RNG because you have no ammo or weapons. A team’s survival rate in such a spot is 10%. You die within the first 10 seconds, then queue up for the next game, and it’s the same again. In 40 seconds, you can lose 200 RP because you had 3 matches like this in a row. Players don’t realize how pointless this is: even if they kill 6 enemies and get 6 assists, they’ll still be in the negative unless they survive until there are only 8 squads left.SNIPER RIFLES are now useless – a random pistol or SMG shot does more damage than a sniper. Reloading and healing times are too long, and by then, the entire enemy team is on you. There’s no more battlefield control; now it’s just R-99 and Nemesis – you must have them or you’re dead.
LEGENDS now die insanely fast; bullet damage and movement speed have increased. Every weapon is OP. There’s no time to react, to revive anyone, or to heal. The balance between damage output and revive/shield/med usage and reload times is completely broken. There’s simply no time for any of it anymore.
They did the same thing to this game that they did to LoL at some point.
Now it’s all about pushing or flanking. Once you’re hit, you’re slowed, and you have no time to react, escape, or do anything. At this point, reloading or using armor means you’re dead. Before, you could actually play around a building, recharge your shields, and fight back with some tactical movement. Now? No time. Just constant rush. Formula 1 is more relaxed at this point.
EDIT: October 10, 2023
I recommend it: Rating 11/10. Graphics and open battlefield design are a huge plus. Apex doesn’t kill hardware – runs semi-passively on my RX 6600 (fans stop spinning, low overall PC power consumption), while some card games or Diablo 4 make the GPU scream and overheat.
Every fight ends differently – every death is unique.
The game isn’t frustrating (unless you die first without items or ammo and pray for luck in a fight against another squad – and most teams play this way. Even though you get the most points from placement, not kills). Despite ups and downs over different seasons, the game is still great =].
This is a game where you need to kill and survive. Like in LoL, a match is divided into:
- Early Game (buffing your character with items, armor)
- Mid Game (fighting)
- Late Game (final showdown)
Reaching late-game, surviving to top 3, and killing multiple enemies gives you meaningful ranked points. Yet 90% of players rush headfirst into fights within seconds of the match starting, like flies to crap. Then they insult you for “ratting” because you value RP and your time.
It’s like in LoL: attacking right away instead of farming gold in early game.
Many players don’t understand what this game and its ranking system are about. They just want to shoot things. They don’t even use abilities. The game only becomes truly enjoyable at Diamond rank – there, people respect RP and know when to retreat, etc.

I do play the modes that suit me best, but that doesn't mean I'm completely unwilling to look at anything new they put out there. I look at it and I don't like what I see. I think it's great if other people are getting something out of it, but that doesn't make it immune to criticism.
"And ranked was just a kill race before but now you can play zone and do very well..." How quickly people forget the camping fiasco of season 14 ranked when the only thing that carried any weight at all was placement. It's just the pendulum swing back again. Which I'm all for if other people are enjoying it, but if the outcry of season 14 was anything to go by then they're probably not. And I also reserve the right to crap all over pre-set drops. I'm not saying they have no purpose. I'm saying they were implemented to stop idiots from idioting. For the rest of us they're a poke in the eye.
And that's the entire direction of the game in a nutshell: dumb it down for lazy, stupid, short attention span players. And basically robbing it of its battle royale identity in the process. That identity isn't gone completely but the writing is on the wall for anyone to see. Come back in five seasons and the game may well be unrecognizable.

Go look, plenty of pro streamers and youtubers for Apex, like still lots of them. No shortage!
What i was saying is with matchmaking, your assuming a lot of so little. You said it was not set up with a player like you in mind. So......... I mentioned the matchmaking without saying matchmaking, if you up to date with the scene you would know but i was on your side.
They are pairing two low level players with one high level player and the lobby skill range is from intro to preds. So the new players get someone to carry and if not then there are high tier players that fame all day every day in the lobbies. Now these streamers are getting put in these lobbies and is why the distribution chart for skill level is all over the place. You can say what you want otherwise but push comes to shove EA has been sketchy and horrible to their core player base for a long time now and ruined the game, this game will never get good again. It is tarnished and once something is tarnished it is done. Sure you will have many players around the world but declines each year. Apex is in its worst state ever.
