Peacekeeper still wins :D
tbh I do not find beating the mastiff so hard. Would way rather have a volt or prowler with upgrades. At the game opening, Mastiff, sure. But an smg is much better once you have the parts unless you like being so close to your enemy that you could kiss them.

@Daze623 because respawn are casual fps players and they refuse to listen to pro player/streamer.
next time you will see spitfire with 100 mag in care pkg xd@DarthValtrex the power of mastiff is with jiggle peek not the damage it self and u don't need to expose ur self (unlike pk/eva-8) also I don't need 2 mention that's u can't dodge mastiff bullet ezlly (thx for horizon spreed)

Why is it that every thread ends up becoming a weapon guide every time somebody requests a nerf. XD
Back on topic though...I honestly see the volt as much more of a problem child than the mastiff, its just too damn easy to use.
- 5 years ago@MandatoryIDtag what about r301/hemlok/prowler :P
- DarthValtrex5 years agoHero (Retired)@Daze623 I could see the alternator getting a very small buff. But the prowler is amazing. Eva 8 is not terrible with double tap.
What else does that leave? - 5 years ago
@Daze623 To answer your question from way back, no. But I think I did answer the question anyway.
To me, most guns in Apex are designed pretty well for the kind of game it is, but there are always imbalances. Having said that, I do not find the Mastiff OP personally, and yes, I do find it better in certain situations. A player can use any weapon decently well, and I also find that people tend to blame the guns over themselves instead of learning how to cope. Now, sure, the Sentinel sucks. In prior seasons, almost every sniper rifle sucked though no more. The Havoc was weak, then great, then weak again.
It's not just about the guns, however, it is how you play against them. In an initial engatement, there's no telling what your opponent is using so sure, if you are at point blank range with a Mastiff and have the wrong gun, you're going to die. That's Battle Royal's for you. And I don't personally dig close quarters unless I am carrying a close quarter weapon myself.
Once you know an opponent has any shotgun really, if you don't, I think your goal is to stay away and you certainly can even from a mastiff. it doesn't always work out, but this is why I think a Volt or Prowler, even without full auto, is a better weapon. It's close and high damage, but you can definitely stay away better with them. Now me, if it's not an SMG, these days I find a Hemlok good enough to win most fights with. That's a pretty powerful weapon to me. Sure, it's got a higher learning curve, but that's the payoff...Hemlok has such a tight spread you can blast pretty great on someone and do lots of damage.'Low Skill' guns. Well, let's talk about that. 'Skill' here means aim skill? Manual Dexterity. Yes, these are skills. But they are not 'more important' than the skills of tactics. Or the skill of making sure you have the proper loadout. Or the skill of playing other ways. I think for all that's wrong with Apex, one thing that's right is you can definitely out play someone that has a 'low skill' gun, or any gun. Besides, even though weapons in video games don't really act that close to their real life counterparts, there's never going to be a game with guns which doesn't have a shotgun type weapon. Shotguns suck at medium range or father, the payoff being they rip you apart at close range and when you are on top of them, no, they don't take a lot of aiming to work. That's what they are there for.
Apex Shotguns aren't even the meta right now, including the Mastiff. The last time shotguns were OP was when the PK was a bin weapon and...I'm going to say this..I didn't really find the PK that OP either. A lot of people screamed, it went into the drop only category, and now its the mastiff.
To me, both Sniper rifle weapons and shotguns should obliterate you. Snipers and shotguns both tend to be too weak because people hate being killed in one shot. Or even two. But that's ridiculous to me, and has led to games were guns aren't guns anymore, they're just stupid water pistols. Water pistols that reduce skill and reduce strategy and let people run around in a nerf world. When weapons are deadly, that may suck to be shot by them...but it also is better for you when shooting them. As long as the guns are the same for everyone.
TLDR I guess I'm saying I don't mind the Mastiff, and in general, I wish all guns did more damage, so I'm not the perfect person to cry on the shoulder of here.- 5 years ago
I rarely get knocked by mastiffs. I get wrecked by volts most of the time. Everyone loves a low elo weapon like the Volt.
- 5 years ago@KelRiever I was gonna respond to everything but after seeing your TLDR I can see that you completely missed the point of the thread so I'll just clear somethings out.
When I talk about "gun skill ceiling" I'm talking about how easy it is to use the gun and how good the payout and I'm pretty sure everyone here can agree that shotguns have the lowest skill ceiling out of all the gun types.
And I'm not asking them to nerf Mastiff. The title is literally me asking them to buff other CQC weapons so that it's not just always Mastiff when it comes to the final ring/cqc situations.
