Please reconsider the midseason nerfs

The game has released several nerfs for the mid-season patch.  I hope they will reconsider these, or at least undo them after this season ends.

One they are nerfing the havoc to not hold as much ammo at one time.  It is hard enough to fire the havoc as it is since it was last nerfed at the beginning of season 20.  The recoil is now much worse and it is harder to get a kill with it, you are lucky to do 90 damage with one clip, you can knock a player with a white shield during a hot drop if they are close to you and focused on something else, but that's about it.  The gun already has a delay and a huge recoil, it doesn't need any more disadvantages.   It's one of only 3 guns that are newbie friendly, and the cheaters will still have an advantage with their zero recoil and enhanced damage.  This nerf will only benefit the cheaters and hurt the fair and square players.

Another nerf is to Bloodhound's skills.  With a system like switch where it is very difficult to see players that are far away, and some players don't render when there is too much shooting, Bloodhound's skills were all I had to keep a competitive advantage.   This nerf will limit the ability to see through smoke and gas, and will make it take longer to charge the tactical scans.  Again, this will only hurt newbies and fair and square players, cheaters have wall hacks that can do this stuff anyway, and nerfing what little advantage fair and square players had is a mistake.

Other legends are being nerfed as well, such as Bangalore and her smoke bomb.

If anyone in the game's development department is reading this, please rethink these nerfs.  The game has enough problems right now and is hard enough to play without more issues.

Can other players please chime in with your opinions on these nerfs as well?  We need to let them know beginners and fair players need some kind of way to counter players that are using technology to get an advantage.

TBH the Havoc nerf isn't really an issue. Though I'd prefer if they just buffed the the other ARs to where they were pre Nemis launch.

The Bang smoke nerf is super lame. Pretty much makes the smoke useless in CQC which is where the majority of fights take place in the game. The entire point of a smoke screen is to obstruct visibility, both in and outside.

It shouldn't be easy to fight in. Looks like I'm gonna take another hiatus from Apex.

The problem with buffing other weapons is that you then lower the TTK, which isn't what Apex is about.

Spotting in the smoke shouldn't be a thing in my opinion as well. Smoke is for cover to either retreat or push, not to blind the enemy and get free shots on them. Personally, I'm not a fan of any of this auto spotting stuff for the entire team with characters like Maggie, Mirage, and Bang.

I think the game should fundamentally be balanced around the gunplay and movement first, and then the abilities second. Abilities and Ultimates should be potent. They should help sway a fight, not be required to win fights.

  • @AymCTL The havoc is broken. It's so powerful you can down multiple people with one clip. Honestly it probably needs a 1 damage nerf to go with this. Or buff the smgs again.
  • @AymCTLThe blood bang nerfs are about the highest level of play. All algs has been the last two splits is bang smoke and only bloodhounds that can see. I think they missed the mark on this a bit as bang will likely still be meta and Seer will likely take bloods place.

@hayhor I'm curious which console you are playing on, because I play on Nintendo Switch and what you describe is how the havoc used to be before season 20. I used to be able to quickly wipe out a whole squad by myself and take my two teammates banners to get revived with just the havoc prior to season 20. After season 20, the recoil was increased to the point it jumps to the top of the screen on the first shot so you need to start way on the floor before shooting, and the shots are now so weak if you can knock one person with a clip you are lucky, you average about 90 per clip on the ones you aren't so lucky on. Of course, the switch no longer has aim assist for the joy con controller so that could explain the bad recoil, but it's interesting the havoc changed so much for me, but others are saying it's still broken.

Also, as for Bangalore, they should just nerf it for algs then and leave it for regular players if that is the case. It seems like a bad business model to change a game to favor a handful of players at the expense of everyone else.

@AymCTL I play on ps5. Your issue is likely a syncing issue. The havoc does have pretty strong recoil overall but I just run a 1x and use it for close range so half the time I'm just hip firing it. Its the best smg in the game and its not even close. The gun is so strong that some pros run 2 of them at end game.

@AymCTL Algs is Apex biggest marketing tool. They spend millions on it yearly. Unfortunately a by product of this is nerfs based on it. As a dedicated algs watcher the nerfs are needed. You can't see anything during fights.

Plus you said it yourself- You said they removed your competitive advantage with BH. No one else could see but you. I hate teammates that smoke us when enemies are pushing. Now I will be able to see them so that is good.

@hayhor The issue with the havoc has to do with the season 20 changes that were made to the switch version. Even the graphics were downgraded for that season and the sound effects were changed, along with the movement being slowed and all guns changed.

As for the nerfs, I get what you are saying about the marketability of the algs, and that is necessary to keep the game afloat. However, the only players these nerfs will hurt are the ones that are trying to play the game fairly and the beginners. Players in the algs are good enough they can just change their strategy, and the smoke problem is something they can easily work around. Cheaters will keep these skills since they can see through walls already, and the havoc nerf won't matter since they have no recoil and high damage, meaning they will still laser people down in the same amount of hits regardless of the nerfs.

So, it seems to me the only ones to benefit from this are cheaters and people who lost tournaments from smoke. The biggest losers in this will be the other 75% of the playerbase and anyone trying to learn the game from scratch.

Also, I wasn't trying to get an unfair advantage with bloodhound, but when the software would not render a player I could still see them with the ultimate or tactical. Extending the charge time for the tactical or nerfing the ultimate will hurt those that play on systems with less capable graphics.
