Punish Disconnecting Losers

I think people playing in public matches should be punished lightly for disconnecting. Not as severe as the timed ban like on ranked, though. Here is my suggestion: When the player clicks "leave match," a timer begins to count down from two minutes. The player may cancel their opt to disconnect at any time within these two minutes, but they may not disconnect until the two minutes has passed. This disconnect timer would of course be disabled if your banner card has timed out or your squad has been eliminated. The playerbase (at least on ps4) is FULL of people who disconnect immediately after getting downed or killed, and it really ruins the game for the rest of us. The odds of two guys vs a lobby of three man squads is just awful, especially with inevitable third partying. I understand wanting to save your KD/R, but ruining the game for your mates isn't fair. You can mute your teammates at any time during a match, so if you're disconnecting because of rude or obnoxious teammates, simply mute them as you wait your two minutes. I think this is a good solution to a toxic problem- if someone is so impatient they simply cannot wait to see the fate of their teammates or wait to be picked up or respawned, it's possible they won't be patient enough to wait two minutes to disconnect, either, and may just wait for their chance to get back in the game.

Edit: After seeing replies I think you guys should realize loot is not the end of the world and leaving the game because of loot goblins is super petty. It's a risk you run by playing with randoms, it happens. People are jerks. A successful respawn is entirely up to chance- but leaving the game because you just don't feel like sticking around for it is just a way to completely ruin the game for your squad. Be considerate ):

  • @SorryWeDied So you think loot goblins should be tolerated and toxic people who shoot at their teammates for taking something they wanted or whatever should be muted and ignored? yeah no, we owe these kinds of people NOTHING to justify sticking around and wasting our time.

If you want people to give you a chance then show them you're worth it, do something as simple as sharing meds or pinging a piece of gear, don't chicken out of jumpmaster, drop a gun for your respawning teammate so they don't end up free food it's literally that simple but no, it's easier to punish people and force them to endure the * of solo queue instead right?
  • I think there should also be distance limit, there are teams out there that make no effort to spawn you in time, and move far away from your death box!

Also there are teams who carry your tag until their death, sometimes for up to 15 minutes or more, in ranked I can understand, but in regular lobby seems obnoxious!

I can't imagine after all this time that they would bring in any kind of penalty for leaving a game in pubs. A lot of players would see this as a negative. Some people would stop playing the game because of this. I would possibly be one of them.

The main reason I quit games early is when my teammates go solo. I don't wanna play solo so I will quit and start again. This happens to me A LOT! If I have to wait an extra few minutes because I have quit the game then it will put me off playing Apex and I'll play something else instead.

The community is at an all time low as it is right now with all the bugs and sound issues etc. Can't see them making the game worse on purpose at the moment. Doesn't make sense
