Racism in game chat...

Seriously, I have experienced this at least 5x now. Players using the N word as a slur against opposing players or to insult the legend chosen. One guy was even calling each player he shot at a "n.....". It is ridiculous to me, I am not racist at all and honestly don't understand it. How can this be dealt with effectively besides giving them a mouthful?

  • @aisthebestletter talk like that is taken seriously in the console side of it, not much game side.

Record it and report them with the proof attached. PS/XB don't take those lightly. Mostly works with text but never hurts to give it a try next time.

Yeah, its so stupid it kinda funny. Most of those guys are immature idiots. I just mute them are quit if they are super toxic. I was once playing with Bangalore and this guys said n-word come over here and res me. That made me so angry! I let him die, and let him throw a hissy fit. Then he quit.

@aisthebestletter, yea it’s just like it was suggested. If you can record it (mostly impossible cause you don’t know when it happends and on console you need additional hardware to capture chats) or mute that person.

@DarthValtrex, so far I’ve yet to hear it here.

    Hey all,

I'm going to lock this thread as there's some broad assumptions being thrown around, and this isn't really a productive way to talk about an issue like this. I know that we all find ourselves in these sorts of uncomfortable situations from time to time, so if someone is being inappropriate in chat or over voice comms you can always report them so the Terms of Service team can take a look.

That said, combating toxicity in our communities is a pretty high priority for EA as a whole right now. When you have the time I'd encourage you to read this article about the recent summit we hosted on this subject:

    https://www.ea.com/news/building-healthy-communities-summit

There's a lot of info there on the steps that EA is taking in an effort to reduce the toxicity that some of our players might be dealing with when they're just trying to play a game. Toxicity in gaming is nothing new, but it's definitely something that's on our radar, and we're trying to make it better.
