@Gabrielmojo26 Interesting. It's literally the same problem I have. I just think the answers we have are different.
Without question, if you drop bad because your two team mates decided to suicide and drag you along for the ride, you're a dead 'team player' But if you just break away, leaving them to fend for themselves, like you say, they're probably dead and you end up carrying them. I've been going on about this for like, ever, now.
You must, if you pug, you must not care about your team mates. They will get you killed. This is completely different if you are loading a full pre-made where everybody knows each other. I too often say if I can get to the top 5 on my own, solo, then there's no reason the duo of my other two team members shouldn't be able to get there themselves, and we can meet in the last rings. These are the only times I end up playing real 'team games' with my mates. This seldom happens. But even more seldom? I die and the duo carries me.
A lot of people vouch for this method in other games, saying you shouldn't be able to raise rank if you can't carry your mates. That's sort of demented to me, I don't think that should be a game ethic at all. However, in Apex, that is so often true. You know, for those who quit when their timer runs out, are just hurting themselves when I'm placing them higher. Those who do stick around as dead gray boxes will get the carry. And let's say they did get 1 or 2 kills before they died in 18th place...so much more the better for them if they stick when I'm hitting top 5.
But I just go back to that this is a core problem in Apex, not just ranked. Even if it works for ranked play, the problem still exists. My solutions would definitely be unpalatable because if you really want to enforce rules with punishment instead of rewards, you will tether team mates to each other so they can't actually go too far away. But of course, that means you'd be stuck with them in their stupid hot drop too.
