Ranked, Ranks

I am going to go out on a limb here with an idea.

As we all know each split and at the end of each season plyers are demoted down in rank so that they have to grind it all back again.

That is not all that bad in itself, however more than enough players have multiple accounts that have made it to Master/Pred or even Diamond ranks.

When they are demoted the preds land in plat and the diamonds in gold. All fine an dandy right?

A lot of players that really cant make that push to the higher ranks tend to make it to gold and plat and that is also fine. 

There is a major problem however that I see. Many players have multiple accounts, some rank one up to Masters/Pred in both splits of a season and then do the same the next season with their Alt's.  See example below:

Waldo1 ranks to master in S16

Waldo2(alt acc) Ranks from rookie to Pred in s17, at this time Waldo1 is basically idle and is demoted in S17 split to Plat 2 and at end of 17 to gold 4.

S18 rolls out and Waldo1 wrecks gold and Plat lobbies on their way back to Pred. 

Wash, rinse, repeat or let it go farther and the account can be demoted to Bronze 4 and Waldo1 can really run amok. 

To me this is just insane and is basically the definition of smurfing as each account is let to be idle, this has got to stop. Players that are in the lower ranked lobbies are tired of being wrecked by former Pred level players stomping them in ranked play in rookie to Plat lobbies.

Ranked play is supposed to be playing at similar rank and skill. so lets try to make it that way. 

Rookies need better protection and should only be able to play with or against rookie to silver players for starters.

Now lets look at changing how split and season demotion work. I suggest that Pred/Masters and Diamond players never be allowed to drop down in rank below Diamond 4. These players are that good and it is a shame to have to play against them when you are a silver level player. These players are the best of the best, the Pro ALGS players, The ORG streamers for those Pro ALGS teams and the few individual hardcore player or independent streamers that are that good. 

So lets break it down if an account hits:

Pred/Master or Diamond, the account should not be able to degrade below Diamond 4.

Platinum or Gold, should not be able to degrade below Gold 4.

Silver or Bronze, should not be able to degrade below Bronze 4.

Once a player gets out of Rookie there is no going back to Rookie. 

As far as the ranked matchmaking is concerned, it can stay the way it is for now, I.E. Diamonds could still possibly be matched with or against Plat players etc.    

This would keep those high skilled Players out of stomping on lower skilled players and give those lower skilled players a chance to enjoy the game more and become better at the game. Along with keeping similarly skilled players playing vs similarly skilled players at pretty much all ranks across the board. 

This would go a long way towards player retention because a happy player that is having fun is a returning player, frustrated players will and do leave. Make a win win out of this EA.
