Re: Apex Legends : Quality of Life Improvement Requests

@PeterN_UK I think the reason it is so confidential is so that it cannot be easily abused, but you are not alone in your concerns!

From the opposite perspective I play in a pre-made pretty much every night and while we are around a Platinum level generally in terms of skill. We consistently come against several full pre-made teams of Master and Predator players in our lobbies, even though they less than 0.2% of the player base. It's become almost impossible for us to win games recently because the skill of these players is only multiplied by the fact that they are in a team together.

    @Cabowse

    Sounds great and much appreciated for looking into!

    Changing attitudes of human decency towards eachother would be leap forward.

    Yes endorsement. I can imagine this would be VERY complicated than simply -1 and +5 kudos and match making players in bands of 100-150, 150-200 total reputation points etc as an example.

    Overwatch rewards endorsements with lootboxes. But for Apex I hope it can work its way into match making as reward to be paired with good sportsmanship players instead. The idea is to make in game experience the motivation rather than reward outside of it.

    Endorsement implies you cannot give negative feedback? Hope you still would be able to. See below 1.

    Factors of consideration below. The "How" is up to EA/Respawn on what is best:

    1. Should endorsement level be reset per season. Endorsement does show your success in terms of good sportsmanship. But without letting someone give you bad feedback you not held accountable for those few occasions you were toxic, even if majority of time you were decent.

    I am thinking a green positive level and red negative level as separate trackers. You want people to be play nice consistently, not just most of the time to over compensate for being unpleasant sometimes.

    Just because you've been nice for 100 games, got no excuse being unpleasant for 1 game and believe it is OK. Well someimes you've done nothing wrong and you still get negative point, well that's collateral damage.

    2. How to stop friends simply spam endorsing eachother to pad out reputation. Well if they do that then all premades will certainly be stuck together if worked into match making. Maybe set limitations.

    3. What if premades actually want a lower reputation, means they'll be up against opponents who are bad sports to their team mates. Puts them at advantage against less organised squads.

    So reverse boosting reputation :D

    4. The points 2 and 3 are interesting as even if abused then premades are just forcing themselves to play with eachother more anyway. But yes have to be cynical about these things to prepare for it. Just like SBMM, people want to find ways around it.

    5. Brand new players and smurf accounts - Do you want to give benefit of doubt and they start at high reputation. Low reputation then they'll be put with bad sports already.

    Yes putting bad sports together in match making is going to reduce playerbase overall with lobbies of raging players paired with another raging player. They will just quit or create another account all the time.

    But I believe in time the game can attract positive type of players as a foundation whom will praise the game and achieve greater growth in numbers.

    @PeterN_UK In a similar way to Overwatch you can only endorse players you are not grouped up with.

    I think introducing negative endorsements could be a tricky thing to do as well as it only antagonises people further, and people that have been a toxic player can hit you back with a negative endorsement even if you're a great player so it's a slippery slope.

    That being said, while the endorsements create a preferred list of team-mates you could also have an avoid option in the list that creates almost an invisible negative endorsement that the game knows about but you don't. This don't have a huge effect on the game but just lets you steer clear of that player in the future.

    Hopefully the idea of endorsing people and creating a roster of preferred team-mates is incentive enough but also I think having badges and stat trackers that show off your endorsement level could also be fun!

    @CompleatBeet I'd love to add them to the list, but I also don't want to overpopulate it, trying to keep things simple!
  • @Cabowse they could do it in the same way world of tanks does where you can only give negative endorsements if you have a certain percentage and amount of positive endorsements.

    Edit: also is your name based off of caboose from rvb.

    @babyaga239 Ooh that's an interesting idea and definitely one the devs could explore if they went down this route!

    Also yes it is! Well a combination of things but Caboose was one of them yes! I think you're one of the first people to recognise that after about 12 years of me using that moniker! haha
  • @Cabowse Well caboose is my favorite character in rvb. "I had a girl friend her name was emailia she was always telling me about things i bought with my credit card. Then I forgot a special word and she never forgave me." "I think caboose fell in love with his email."

    @Cabowse

    I was going to suggest that negative feedback would be anonymous and reputation level is not updated instantly to not give the game away. But I know the curiosity itself would make someone feel anxious of "who". Perhaps if it was a private stat only visible to the player and not public. The public won't know about this invisible tarnish on your record, but the player will know him/herself as a gentle reminder of their behaviour trend.

    So there is no name and shame. Sometimes you have to give someone a mirror to reflect on. But then there will be times you will receive negatives for doing nothing wrong. Guess better to have only positive stats in this game to prevent annoyance.

    I would hope this whole endorsement system would be utilised into random match making, so you're teamed with like minded people 🙂 Very curious what will be said about it online.

    Yes, friends list can have small labels to indicate reputation all in one view, so you don't have to go one by one into their profile. Definitely badges/stats will give confidence to randoms to not quit early knowing they're playing with someone more reliable, so that's a bonus too. A much more proud stat to display.

    Many thanks for taking onboard!

    @Cabowse

    Credit to @Koochi-Q

    Bloodhound voice could announce X number of secs of recent footprints tracking.

    @PeterN_UK I still can’t believe it doesn’t say in the mentioning area how many secs ago something was. Seems like a huge oversight.

    “Someone was gathering loot here recently”... timer says 80 secs ago which you only see... You think to yourself ‘Almost a minute and half is not recently’ while you see your teammates frantically looking around cause they don’t see how long ago it was xD

  • Hey @Cabowse

    Got some new QOL suggestions.

    (QOL) More Legend callouts and quips like "enemy cracked", "performing a finisher" "my ultimate is ready" "they've got good armor" "sniper" "they've got a {weapon class}"

    (QOL) The ability to say "No" to Someone's Been Here and Enemy Pings

    (QOL) Ability to request a better attachment than one you have e.g. "I'm looking for a barrel mod, level 2 or higher" if you have a level one barrel

    (QOL) Sound effects from the Legend being finished and not only the Legend performing the finisher

    (QOL) Players are respawned with their tactical ability charged
