1: I agree, it needs better range. You should be able to shoot it while ADS-ing in with at least the lower end scopes.
2: I think 2 drills would be great to play with, but it might also be quite powerful.
I also think hitting someone directly with the drill should set them on fire like the thermite grenade. I doesn't have to deal tonnes of damage, but 5 is pathetic, especially for what it is. If you shoot it on someone, at least let it fall on the floor and spray the direction if was when you hit. Especially on downed players, they're already defeated (and should burn muhahahahaa).
3: Throwing the ball inside buildings through a door would be much scarier if it bounced around dealing damage multiple times before exploding. Or as you suggest, a bit more damage. It takes a little while to use so you can't just use it instead of a gun (or at least I don't recommend it), but it is somewhat easy to hit with so not too high damage either. From 20 to 40-55?
The movement aspect of the ball is useful in some cases like running in on someone, escaping zone or reaching a downed teammate. The ball bouncing on the tiniest little pebble and back in your face tho...not that great.
