Re: Controller sensitivity and season 20 changes

@AymCTL just wanted to post again I can confirm this is worth trying. I just tried a gun run in thunderdome and I got 4 kills with nearly 1k damage. I didn't win but it was the first fun match I had since this season started.

Also, there were fewer players that didn't render and I was able to control the game better with lower sensitivity, I even did some gyro tap strafing by tilting the controller. So, I hope this helps someone who is struggling with the changes.

When it comes to aim I'll try almost anything. I'll give it a go and let you know how it goes. If I can manage to get shield level up to the point that I stick around for a gun fight. A mighty big if, I can tell you.

@reconzero Cool, let me know how it goes. I also tried straight shot and managed to get a kill, though I'm still doing bad with regular pubs.

Well, as it turns out my look sensitivity is already at 3 and any lower than that means it takes me half a match just to turn around, so not really willing to go any lower there. On the ads side, I'm already down to 2, so likewise, any slower and all a target has to do to shake me is move. It was great with the dummies set to static, but as soon as they start moving then anything lower than 2 is unworkable. Not sure if this means I've been at the right place all along, or that I'm not good enough to make the best settings work, or haven't given them enough time.

@reconzero I play 3-2. I need the extra fine control in mid-range that I feel 2 gives me that 3 can't. But because it's so slow, I had to learn hip-fire in CQC as you just can't ADS. Also had to learn to snap to my enemy and then ADS when I'm on him (or as close to him as the snap is) I feel it's the right balance for me and how I mainly play, and prefer to play.

I know what you mean about learning to hip-fire. It's still a little bit of a mystery to me when to scope and when not to when it's close-quarters. 27k matches and I still don't know how to get close and win in this game. But of course, that's probably because you can't unless you consider 50/50 odds to be good. I still don't but maybe that's the thing I need to re-learn!

@reconzeroOh, I think the reason it got better for me is I had mine up to 3.8 on ads because I wanted to be able to rotate faster when people ran into my blind spot, but taking it down to 2.4 has enabled me to get better accuracy since the season 20 changes.

I can see how anything below 2 would probably hinder accuracy. It's weird how much the game feels different now so that even sensitivity has this much if a different effect.

(Edit to add: the decimal points are possible on Nintendo Switch's gyro controller, not sure if they are possible on other platforms since they say a gyro is similar to adding a mouse to a controller)

No deccimals on xbox either. Gyro controller sounds like a good thing - maybe I should switch platforms???

@reconzero The good thing about gyro on Nintendo Switch is you never have to use the right thumb stick to control recoil, you simply tilt the controller forward when firing a gun. Once muscle memory takes over you basically have zero recoil.

Also, you can tap strafe by simply tilting the controller around in the motion of the tap strafe.

The only drawback is because you don't have the recoil problem you don't get aim assist, however that's never really been an issue for me since the motion control helps you correct your aim just by moving the controller.

You want to make sure you only use the TV version though, handheld it's very difficult to see the enemies on some maps because of the small screen.
  • I was running on 4

But my stick drift got too unbearable couldn't pick up loot or climb.

I switched to advance controls and adjusted.

My sensitivity allegedly now falls somewhere between 4 and 5 (if 5 is higher)

I had to keep making minor adjustments as my pitch was a little stiff when looking. I keep it on linear and dead zone 5-8 has helped I also blew on my controller aggressively haha.

So after looking into this it seems that our old hardware cheat friends at XIM make a gyro controller that's compatible with xbox, the XIM Nexus. It got mixed reviews from different people, but one guy on YouTube said that the only real use it might have is for an xbox player where there are as yet no other gyro controller options. Not sure if that's enough recommendation to overcome the $170 price tag, but I'm thinking about it.
