Re: For a company that made TiF2, you people sure hate movement

Stopped reading after complaining about removing bhop healing, something that was clearly never intended to be a feature and was ridiculously stupid.

@xXCA_RageXxIf you want to view it as complaining that's your prerogative, and if you want to boast about quite literally being ignorant to the post then that's also your prerogative, but I would like to point out again that Respawn produced Titanfall 2 prior to Apex, a game that is centrally focused around bhop as a mechanic. There is absolutely no chance that bhop heal wasn't considered prior to release, and the change was made not because it was a bug, but in order to compress the skill floor and ceiling.

If you had read, you'd also know that I wasn't expecting any changes to that front, but rather that it's that act of compression that I'm arguing against and that that direction of game design is what is actively enabling the camp meta.

Bhop healing removed alot of the dangers of going for a heal, it made no sense. Love when people whine about it, makes my day.

@xXCA_RageXxBlock quoting is space-inefficient and not necessary. I do, however, appreciate you making an actual point on that topic.

I would disagree with the idea that it made no sense, however, for several reasons:
Firstly, bhop healing is only effective on relatively flat terrain or downhill terrain, meaning that in order to bhop heal you must be either net 0 or actively ceding high ground positioning. While this may seem to you negligible, high ground is incredibly impactful in its benefits on a fight and concessions of high ground advantage are incredibly impactful--you're very much making a tradeoff when you go for a bhop heal retreat, just as you would be continuing the fight injured or trying to heal in cover. Each of these options has its advantages and disadvantages and not every situation could be or should be solved by just one of those options.

Secondly, as mentioned before, Apex's predecessor and the source of its lore universe, Titanfall, was incredibly reliant on the exact kinds of mechanics inherent in bhop healing. I would agree that it would seem unintentional and out of place in a game or universe such as those that Rainbow Six Siege, CoD, Battlefield, or other slow paced, short TTK shooters inhabit, but with Apex's moderate TTK and fast paced universe, it makes absolute gameplay and lore sense to have as an option.

Finally, from a gameplay perspective, as the main post would have explained had you read it, the balance ramifications of its removal far exceed any possible benefits in terms of accessibility that compressing the skill curve would provide, because the players that those kinds of changes would help (Essentially newer or casual players who don't want to practice movement but still want to have a chance to beat veterans on occasion) are the same players who are watching (Or more accurately, not watching/just briefly checked) the camp meta tournaments and wondered why the game looked so bad in top level play. There were a plethora of other problems outside the meta, for sure, but those are for another post.

TL:DR- If the point of its removal was to help give the unspoken, casual masses a better chance to fight the veteran population for better player retention, then that goal has failed as the resultant meta of those changes caused poor viewership of the official tournaments and poor overall player experiences.

One last thing- If people having differing (and evidence based) opinions to yours is, to you, whining, then I'm truly sorry for you. It must be so lonely feeling like you're the only person who can think rationally.
