@Tamyndrisyes you can be demoted in one rank, like from silver 2 to silver 3, but you won't be demoted from silver to bronze, unless it's a season reset. It's been like that since day 1 Ranked.I see, seems I have been missing that detail. Despite of being all over the place (Silver) due to inconsistent performance : )
Thanks for your response.
i'd be shocked too if i lost some points in silver ><
- @NaRnIaaa : ) good for you. but it looks like I am a true Silver. last season, after I reached Gold, I could not gain more than 30 good points there, before stressing demotion protection again.
if we had summed up our numbers for demotion protection, this would have been a new high score ... @Tamyndris may I suggest some casual cautious creeping is added to your repartee! May work wonders for your complection. ๐
- @OldTreeCreeper Dear Ma'm, while I might not be under full comprehension of what you are proposing, it may be said that cautiously creeping is not what I come to APEX for. Right? Its a FPS, not a FPC (First Person Creeper).
Usually, that Venus dominated horoscope of mine, binds me to stay and fight by or bring back my mates, too, no matter the odds. Brave, but not smart.
Also, you know what they say: Keep creeping and you won't improve your game. Right? ^^ @Tamyndris ๐
There are more things in Heaven and Earth, my dear Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy, of the blunt tool. ๐๐๐

- @OldTreeCreeper I ... we ... that is ... well, what exactly are you a GUIDE for? Because, you've lost me ^^
Ahhh young @Tamyndris tis easily done ๐
Perhaps when you grow older and wiser, you will be able to absorb, understand and utilize the way of the creeper! Then achieving your much saught after platinum charm.๐ฅณ
Perhaps after many years you too may find an electric blue one. ๐

my love, growing "older and wiser" might pose a problem here: I AM ALREADY OLD!
I don't say that 53 year old guys (who edited their autoexec.bat to play Doom in 1990) CAN'T be good enough for PLATINUM in Apex in 2020. But, growing slow and casual really does not help this Legend there : )
@Tamyndris I knew we had somthing in common, I'm 54! But you are still younger than me๐
I was more into red baron, asteroids, bandito, tron, bitd, duke nukum, then into sonic. But skipped the rest as I stopped playing after losing a lot of time, and then my son got me back into it 2 years ago. So my reflexes are not great. But im tactically alert and use every skill i have to get on. I play fortnite with my son and we just got our 100th duo win, but he does the building side if things as I can't cope with that!

54! THAT's old! ^^
good to know, there's a club around.

cool! my daughter likes Overwatch and Destiny the most. Had a bit of Conan Exciles together. Didn't like Fortnite, watched a bit but did not want to play. Was not before APEX that I was pulled into that Battle Royal thingy. Lots of adrenaline in there for me. I like the tough and unforgiving action.
Fun fact, was researching about reaction time in regard of age. I found, that players got best reaction time around mid 30s, which was a small hint at that time, that not the youngest players have the advantage there. But ofc, mid 30s ist not beginning 50s. So, I'm out, regarding reaction time. Obviously, I can't compensate tactical-wise, either : P
@Tamyndris the young can be out thought! Imo they are conditioned for movement and color. So I used to use wraith in the midnight skin and midnight weapons skins too, and you would be suprised how many would run past if i was in trouble, and out numbered and just jumped into a mini shadow round a corner. You can remain motionless for a short while, but if they are still around looking for you a little wiggle resets the timer. One of my goals is to try hit top 3 as often as possible.
Its taken me a year to get the view up to 110 degrees as there was just too much going on to take in. Also my son can't play with my controller as he says its too slow rotating. Anything more and it makes me nauseous.
My favorite loadout at the moment is the LStar with a 2/3 hocg sight. I find the sight makes the gun far more accurate and u can see the target better. I also dont move when firing it for added accuracy.
The Sentinel is my second choice.
My ammo would be 4 energy 1 sniper.
The rest of the slots are shield, bandages etc as i need s lot of them.
My son loves overwatch too, but I cant stand it, its like a teen pokemon.
So perhaps I have a more cautious type of play (along with the good old days of pattern recognition ๐) and I am getting more circumspect with my jumps (after a few thousand so called hot drops with the ill prepared) but it works for me.

I see. How do your other team mates handle that sneaking approach? Guess you often have a discussion on hand in game?
I like hiding and sneaking in APEX, when I am left alone (either by having to start as a one man squad or by mates having timed out). When I want to fetch me some points in a match then, I have no other chance, for I am a bad shot. It's hide or die then.

I have no steady aim, so usually I am more efficient with single action guns like EVA8. With those I just pull the trigger, when my target crosses my crosshair, not wasting ammo or having too frequently to reload in the time I am not on target. Though other guns are superior in damage output per second and accuracy with growing range.
2nd gun is usually a sniper rifle. Sentinel is not good for me, again because of not being the best shot, I need a higher fire rate. Longshot would be me favorite there. Though recently I had some success with Charge Rifle, strangely.
Looking at your ammo note, I should maybe include some counting into my gameplay as well. I tend to collect needed type of ammo until backpack is full, THEN having to sort things out when I come across shield cells and syringes ... NOT professional : )
@Tamyndris I can go full sneaking solo, or just try to hold the squad back a bit if I can, or full on, depending on the circumstances, but sometimes my squad are very kind and resuss me a lot. None of those approaches imply longevity, but I do what I can and try to learn as I go.
I have no idea how my team mates feel as I am mostly deaf in one ear, along with tinnitus in both, the tinnitus being exacerbated by loud noises so no headphones and no directional sound. Its just the game sound with no squad chatter out of the telly speakers. Just pinging.
I wouldn't say my aim was good, but its getting better and tweaking the settings over time is helping. Having the highest scope for any given weapon is really helping at the moment.
Unfortunatly they reduced the placement points for ranked making it that bit more difficult now to score points with random squads. I haven't played any ranked this season focusing more on improving my aim with kills in the standard game.
I cannot use a charge rifle at all and gave up on it.
I tend to pick up bits and pieces as i go, intending (hopeing) to finally end up with kitted out Lsar and sentinel.
A few sessions in the range would work wonders for the sniper aim.

I see. That makes the (very cool) pinging system even more central for you.
Only around one in twenty squad chats adds any value to my match. Rest is silent or not helpful, performance-wise. With your tinnitus you start every match with a special, demanding setup, naturally. I find it brave you head in there, nevertheless, doing your thing.

One in twenty is very poor, and would make me switch off the chat altogeather, as it sounds in the main a distraction, and from what I've read here on the forum generally unpleasant and toxic.
Perhaps might be worth trying a few weeks of no chat and do your own thing with the ping, at the very least it will allow you to concentrate better on your own play.

@OldTreeCreeperHey at least youโre not like me. Iโm 35 and look like Iโm 50. But I did that to myself, I definitely burned the candle at both ends from 18-29.
4 night trips to Vegas and only sleeping 4 hours the entire trip. Who needs sleep when Rockstar provides sleep in a can?!i have some wild stories. Got drunk with a famous Country music band. I had no idea who they were and was not buying the whole we are famous spiel. Told them the rolex was fake and from the 7-11 in the airport. I was having hard time explaining the random women asking for pictures at autographs.
i got lost in death valley with 3 strangers. One was a doctor phone Iran and the other was some dude from the Philippines who spoke no English. good times

@DarthValtrex lol I'm 54 but feel 80, burnt a few candles myself๐๐ฅณ
@Tamyndris no english? We need something like a universal ping๐

Roger, landing (audio-wise) in another one's living room, with kids, tv and life partner shouting in the background, I mute that player. Else, for me, one of the reasons for playing online is to meet and communicate with other (and different) people. Thus, I keep chat open and am excited about who I am matched with next.
Only a small percentage of chat happening is or ends really toxic. Toxic as in offensive. A player who is frustrated with how the things are going and asks what (the heck) you are doing there (i.e. calmly collecting stuff a mile away, while your two team mates are engaged in a fight), I don't consider toxic.
@Tamyndris that just reminded me of the words of a song
"We're just two lost souls,
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year!"๐

I wouldnt be able to concentrate on the game with chatter on the headphones. Far too much going on already for my limited resources ๐
