@OldTreeCreeper  that was my understanding of it too.

That being said you could probably still get quite far in ranked just by cheesing 175 rp a game.

(I haven't checked if the ranked rp costs have been amended too so take this with a pinch of salt)

@OldTreeCreeperThere is a points cap. If you win only 7 kp count. If you finish 7th 12 kp count. This ratio changes the higher you finish. This is why people could use crypto to scan, get kp and then kill themselves. Or two squads can join a game together, get to 12 kp and 7th and then quit the game. There is zero incentive to win in BR now if you can get more than 7 kp early on.

  • @hayhor I can't find that in the patch notes, can you link please. Seems very confusing to me and if true favors hot dropping in a bit way.

@OldTreeCreeper It is in the picture cheeseman showed above. The dev states it. 7 kp max for a win. 12 kills count tho for 7th.
  • @hayhor I'm not sure I understand the picture but after looking at it, care to elaborate for me please.

With regard to tbe dev, its someone quoting the dev, including the words "somthing like" which is not definitive imo.

  • @hayhor those are in the notes too but don't explain the 12 kill max or 7 kill max on placement?

Interesting to note they say 275 RP like I did in my 1st post here, aparrently correcting a quoted dev???

@OldTreeCreeper reading all this and the link hayhor sent how I understand the system:

You have two major sections - kill-based RP and placement-based RP.

Placement remained the same as in season 10 = maxing out 100 RP for the 1st place.

Kill based now contains two subcategories:
    a) per skill level fixed RP
    b) per placement based kill multiplier
And both a and b together are capped at 175 RP.

And the difference is that the old system included placement factor as that increase kill multiplier - the higher you place the higher was kill multiplier. E.g. 7 kills with 7th place would give you 7 kills * 12x multiplier = 84 RP.

Now 7 kills give you 21-140 RP fixed + 7 kills * 2x multiplier per placement. So e.g. if smurfing and being B4 you kill all platinum players you get 140+14=154 RP, as per Apex that happens rarely so if you kill your level ppl 70*10 + 14 = 84 RP which is kind of comparable.

Yet given above said at this point I understand 7 KP is not capped instead total RP per kill-based section is, so you go in kill 12 people even of your own level and finish 7th = 12*10+12*2=144 RP from kills + 20 points for placement = 164 RP which in the old system would be possible only if you would have max 6 KP and finished top 4 or higher, that clearly shows that this system favor kills and players who are more kill oriented, hot dropping than placement, tactical players who evaluate risks and do not push everything.

    @OldTreeCreeperFrom season 11 patch notes:
"The kill RP cap (as we have traditionally thought about it up to this point) is effectively being raised from six to seven. However, this kill-related RP cap can be reached in different ways, depending on tier differences and placement. Placement is still paramount, and you still must place first to have a chance at max total RP."

From what that says, the only way to max out with 275 RP is to place 1st in the match, and max out kill RP. You can get a maximum of 175 RP from kills/assists, and an additional 100 RP if you place 1st, for a total of +275 RP. I don't play ranked anymore, but the patch notes indicate that you can not attain +275 RP without placing 1st (See screenshot). You can max out kill RP without placing 1st, but apparently can not max out total RP without placing 1st.

The thought strikes me that this could be an encouragement to people who are inclined to kill boost.

@pandareno1999It is already happening. You can do it faster. Kill boost until 7th place and kill yourself. Should cut the game length almost in half.

  • @hayhor I believe I am reading/understanding it incorrectly. Wouldn't that scenario only net them +195 RP total? 175 being the max from kills/assists, and then the 20 RP for placing 7th? You could still get up to +275 RP total, if you simply finish the match. I know I'm not thinking about some aspect of this correctly, because now I'm confused, Lmao

@dSKyNafinchin I dunno. Somehow he says you can get max earlier. I don't play ranked so I haven't really studied the points. But even if it was 195 vs 275 if you could play 10 minutes and get 195, is the remaining 10 minutes worth 80 more points? Or should you just die and start again.
  • @hayhor Haha that's my problem with understanding it too, I just play pubs. You have a point though, and maybe that's more what he was referring to? This would only work for better players though. I didn't often max out KP when I used to play ranked, so I would still need to get my placement points. If I could get +195 or even +150 in a matter of the first few minutes though, I might be inclined to do the same! Although, at higher tiers, I would probably still want placement points to help offset the entry cost? I should probably jump into a little ranked sometime soon, to see how I like it these days

Didn't know I needed a Ph.d. in math in order to play Apex Legends ranked. 🤔

  • @hayhor if you get them given in the bug section of forums I saw a topic where RP did not apparently register for some players :D Maybe now SBMM decides on that too :P
