Re: Matchmaking- & Team-fill issues

@LetMeVsBots At least as it pertains to pubs, your sentiments are kind of how I feel. If pubs were more randomized, then at least you would be able to mitigate your overall success by practicing and improving above the median skill. So if you wanted to win more consistently, you could practice.

As it stands now, you can achieve significant improvement in ability but not win more consistently because the algorithm is intentionally pitting you against players to ensure your win rate remains in line with all players (save the top 1%).

    @Axs5626Sxa5001A couple things,
    I'm not even talking about winning. On trios, winning is a 1/20 chance. Winning every 20th game isn't a big deal to me. What I hate most of all is feeling like a fight is unfair for any reason, be it getting matched with better players, being shot through walls, or enemies teleporting around.

    Secondly, not everybody has an improvement mentality. I don't give a crap about being amazing or getting better. I just want to shoot gun. I'm slightly above average, always have been, and always will be. I don't care to change it. I play for fun with friends and that's it. If I want to get good I'll go play elden ring or something. I should not be getting rubber banded between skilled and unskilled lobbies so often.

    @LetMeVsBots I hear you—

    What I am saying is that if YOU are above average, then you should have above average results.

    But perhaps that isn’t what you want/or are concerned about.

    Hypothetical question:

    Imagine their matchmaking worked absolutely perfectly for them; every single match pitted you against your exact doppelgänger. Everyone won at exactly the same rate— would you be for or against this?

    @Axs5626Sxa5001 i would be all for "every single match pitted you against your exact doppelgänger" once in blue moon lobby feels evenly matched and i know how loost or won fight happen. im average player with no intentions of git gud by spending time in shooting range and studying advanced tactics because game shouldnt be a chore. now 1in7-10 game is playable rest is with noob teammates against stacked preds

    If youre against stacked preds you been sweating hard bud, that is not a normal lobby. Perhaps youre on a server with low playcount so you get silly lobbies or something?

    In europe when I play (ye I play fairly sweaty) we have enough trails running the sky, but not many preds... For the preds to show up we need to switch on full serious sweat, and I claim to play casual but that just isnt true - old habits and all.... I practice in shooting range, practice in pubs with stacked team and what not.

  • @NiedzwiedzioI know a lot of people who support the idea of “every match pitting you against your doppelgänger”. It’s difficult to achieve in BRs and much easier to achieve in games and mode with two opposing sides.

    But when this convo comes up, I feel inclined to have people really consider the reality of this.

    When everyone plays their exact equal, players tend to all exhibit the same wins ratios and outcomes. This results in players of all skill levels having the same outcomes.

    Do you support equal outcomes in competitive activities? Do you believe under average players should win at rates similar to above average players (in pubs)? I have an issue with this proposal. I have always felt like a game’s non-ranked mode should be the place where everyone plays everyone. People seeking a tight, tournament like game should play ranked.

    I dont concur, youre just saying this because youre master level and already playing the sweaty boys, if you were new to the game and met a pred you would quickly look to other games.

    Did you ever try play a game without matchmaking before? its insane, try planetside 2 and just jump into the main fray (not the noob area). I am a strong believe to play one segment up and one segment down to give you some fun but still have the opponents that is better then you so you keep progressing naturally (then cycle if youre top, center og bottom matched). Still players under level 10 should be in its own group, and if game detects smurf, tag forever pred ranking or something to get them out of the bot lobby. If you ever seen a proper newbie lobby with the lest proficient players you would understand they need to be able to get the grasps of the mechanics before they meet a pred. I checked when helping my daughter starting apex, I played no weapons and no damage goal just to help her, I could dodge a full team of 3 for ages before they even hit me - thats just not fair to match against a master or pred.

    @Axs5626Sxa5001im playin since s0 and my winrate is around 5% all seasons and i dont care about it. what is my problem with mm is (as i mentioned in other posts) loop of around 7 games with 0 kills/assists then one easy mode game with 10 kills. latly im getting bronze teammates in ranked beeing in gold1 myself. i get it tha in pubs shoul be everything goes to extent but ranked too? why it is call ranked where rank doesnt matter? and i dont agree that every game with same skill players would have the same outcome there is to much variables like equipment spam, 3rd partying, teammates(im solo q) landing zones. look at the old game of chess peple with same skill playing with eachother and there werent 2 of the same games. my point is i dont care about the wins, just want fights beeing even matched. looking at my stats im getting worse at the game
