Re: Meet Mad Maggie

So the ultimate leaves a trail of pads that if you walk over them you get a small speed boost.

Now the question is, does the ball stop at the first small bump or can it bounce in a corner?

@DYSPROssium Just like bowling ball, It's hard to hit exactly where you wanted to be, I think we should able to trigger the explosition so we simply need to roll them in then trigger it to explode. If you have wattson pylon, it should block it. Fence should slow it down.

@DYSPROssium The video shows the ball bouncing off a wall and redirecting. My guess is it keeps going until it runs out of momentum or runs into something immovable with low bounce.

My question is if you roll it up hill will it come back? Could make some cool plays where you roll it uphill at an angle and have it come down on a team. haha

What if it keeps going until it hits a lowest point and just stops?

Just let it rip on a high area in Storm Point. Then be confused 10 minutes later when you get a kill or assist.

How could I have missed that! @hayhor

Even though it bounces of the wall, it seems to still have a decent amount of speed. They probably made it bouncing up and down in order to avoid it to turn on every small ledge.

But going up? It would be kinda weird if it didn't go up, since then you are always at a disadvantage with Maggie when you fighting against a higher positioned team...

@DYSPROssium Yeah I expect it goes up but how high. If you roll it on a hill on stormpoint or olympus how high does it get?

And what if you roll it over yourself?
  • This looks like another character I can throw games with like Seer.

By the way, my Seer, 0 kills and 65 games played so far.  I love becoming a box at the start of every match with him.

I think they would be hilarious if they never went away after launched. Just kept rolling around until they found the lowest possible point and ran out of speed.

Imagine launching one early in Storm Point, at a high point. It rolls off, and you forget about it, 8 minutes later you get a kill assist with no idea why...

And just imagine the pool in the Forbidden Zone filled with like, 8 of these, that hurt anyone that bumps into them.

@hayhorClearly he's looking to hate the game enough to leave, or is trying to get banned. I think he's just burned out but can't quit on his own due to sunk cost fallacy.

Could be wrong though. Hard to know peoples' motivations on the interwebs. Maybe he just really hates Seer.

  • @Kyldenar You win on the last answer.

    I really hate Seer.

It's like everything wrong with the game in one character.

So every now and then, there's a game that I need to play to get BattlePass stars that I have no intention of finishing, and that's when I pick Seer.   I secretly hope against all hope that this character will be super deleted.   There are other characters I wouldn't mind seeing going, and apparently the list is growing, but Seer is by far and away the first on the list.

This character is worth abhoring, as it's never ending reveal meta represents all the screwed up mentality of Respawn. I consider my Seer throw of making the game better for everyone playing including my two pug team mates.  1 less badly designed character in the game.  You are all welcome 😉

From the sounds of it, Mad Maggie is designed to flush people from cover and then shoot them like a rabbit hunter. But most of her kit is based on close range engagement.

So, the answer is the thing the community hates. Attrition at long range with sniper/marksman weapons.

So, she's going to at least seem OP because the community hates to change and adapt tactics.

This lack of adaptation is why even though I get consistently better results than my pubs teams by dropping just outside Fragments when they insist on dropping there and then rotating in after I have {gasp, shock} guns, every team always insists on dropping there to die because they don't realize they are not the next incarnation of AECU or whatever his name is. Don't care one whit about streamers for this game other than the dumb ideas they put in the average and below average player's heads.

Well, I would recommend, like I said, long range engagement. You know that ideally she's going to want to push close, to max out use of her passive and the tactical, so a player is going to want to try and use the Ult to help push.

To counter, you need to be ready to do one of the following:

    • Accurate long range shots to crack armor by the time they close, before they are in range of their guns to give you the advantage.
    • Rapid rotation / tactical withdrawl. If you can arrange to not be there when the wrecking ball brings them in, you can better choose the terms of the next engagement.
    • Maggie doesn't care about Rampart Walls, but walking into a hail of Sheila is still a bad idea no matter what your kit is.

There is also always the option of drawing a Maggie team into a 3rd party, then pulling back and picking them off at range.

For me the goal is to win or survive the BR as long as possible. Kills is a happy bonus when they happen.

Of course, all the the above planning goes out the window when you get 3rd (or 4th, or 5th) partied and then you just have to adapt quickly. Too many people in those cases forget than running is an option.

Also note this is based on limited video footage and her not being in the game yet. "Real world" data and scenarios will cause this to need to update. She might release and then we discover she's not OP at all once played against everything else.

  • @Kyldenar @Cro_Pittt We’ll have to see at the start of the season to really know. Like what I’ve said, all these observations were just from a guy in a firing range shooting at dummies so obviously take it with a grain of salt. These are initial impressions only. Let’s also take into account how other legends would play with or against Maggie. In season 8, everyone loved Octane’s well deserved buff for the jump pad on paper in the patch notes only to realize people found out that if you pair that new jump pad with Revenant, it was overtly OP. Rampart in the trailers with a freakin mini gun also seemed strong and we all know what happened to that. Same thing happened to Seer. It seemed that he’s gonna be “okay” only to find out that having 20 Seers with flash bangs, 10 damage, silence, and scan with life bar was OP.

Also I can’t upload the videos here because the guy who leaked it is sus. Not a datamine nor an inside leak video but more of hacking the servers to get inside the test servers with the S12 update. But if you search for it on youtube, you can clearly find the videos.

@Kyldenar In my experience the long range plan doesn't work that often. If you get in a long range fight that goes on forever you basically invite the rest of the lobby to the fight. The first week Maggie will be in every single team so you will die to her abilities a lot. If she is good, her pick rate will ensure this continues. We will see tho.

Long range fights go on too long because finding new cells/batteries is pretty much trivial. Which is one of my big problems with the game. Attrition is not really a thing, and I think it hurts the concept of a survival BR... but that may just be me.

I'd like to see instances of cells/batts reduced a LOT in ground/bin loot (actual medical is fine, as that takes longer and you can't upgrade your base 100 health). Make people actually think about if and when they want to engage.

As it is, more and more I think I'm just gonna mostly quit the game. The meta is shifting every slowly toward the shotgun ape meta I hate in Destiny 2 Crucible. Maybe just play the "2 matches as _______" per day on lunch and then play my single player games that don't anger me as much anyway.

I'm only engaging with this game in the hopes we eventually get another single player (or at least cooperative) game set in this setting, weather Titanfall 3 or Apex Shooting MMO, whatever.

  • @Kyldenar First, I would like to inform you, my Seer games are now 75, Wins 0, Kills 0

More importantly, you are right about this cover stuff, and frankly, I would like to know what sort of haze Respawn dwells in.  When was cover ever a problem?  When was cover not something that makes the game enjoyable, and makes you think, and make you plan?

And you know, not only is the reveal meta ability distasteful, but yet another stab at defense characters, as if Gibby or Rampart were super duper broke, when all Defense characters need help?

I think what Respawn is on drugs about, is that whoever is doing their meta, is some brain hurt person who thinks the meta should all be attack characters that make you keep your forward/W key pressed because that makes games moar funz.  Or, it's just an admission by Respawn that they can't make a game with fixed sound, or strategy that matters like cover (even though that one is fine), or teamwork matter,  so they just gave up a long time ago and now are rolling out the Mountain Dew Candy Crush characters.

Only 13 year olds need apply for dev jobs at Respawn, I guess.  The T ESRB rating is for employees, not people who play the game :P

Just what I expected. Maggie’s ult can be very dangerousnin small compact spaces like small house and this case, inside Gibby’s bubble. The huge speed boost the ult gives your team inside the bubble would be great. https://twitter.com/nicewigg/status/1489719939082584064?s=21

I can also see the ult be useful in crossing areas with no cover just for the speed boost. Does anyone know how fast the cooldown is for her abilities?

Confirms some our speculations in these videos. Kandy made a great point that Maggie’s passive ability scan is great when you’re peaking so you would have that wall hack pre-fire advantage. Noko said that the ult also gives you that bangalore stun effect if it hits you.
