Re: mirage is easily the worst legend, needs buff season 15

I see your point. i’d like to see him in some of these competitive tournaments (even once).  Apart from rev, he is simply the worst legend.  

i don’t think the balance changes i suggested him would make him op.  many legends would still do all the roles much better. in fact it would probably make him playable in diamond plus lobbies.  

i just think an ultimate should benefit the legend not hinder.  he’s the only legend where the ultimate actually hurts the team.

My son mains Mirage.... in his opinion, he believes his ultimate is almost over powered. He states that his ultimate recharges faster than almost all others, and because so - he can use the ultimate in almost every battle he encounters. I play a lot with him, and once he deploys the ult....its almost a guarantee to come out of the battle the victor. 

He 1v2's constantly once its deployed. He has specific movements he does upon activating and rarely does he not come out on top. He has said many times, "as soon as I pull the ult, they die." 

He has played all legends, but states, his win rate and kills, damage, placement is always higher when main mirage. 

I'm sorry to hear your frustration with him. But personally for me, whenever I go up against a mirage 1v1....if he pulls his ult, I die 9 out of 10 times. 

One thing I would not want to see is a scan on ppl who shoot his decoys. This game is riddled already way to much with reveal meta garbage. To the point of no return. If that was the case, than every legend should be reworked to be fair, so that every legend has some form of wall hacking, reveal, scan in real time rubbish....because you know - game sense has no business in a competitive BR game.

Maybe this is because of my years playing Mesmer competitively in PvP and WvW in Guild Wars 2, but I can almost always track the real Mirage out of his Ult. There is subtle animation differences (a very slight delay, I think) between the real and the ult actions. It's a dead giveaway if one climbs or uses a door, of course, but there are always Tells.

The times I can not is:

1. When I didn't see it triggered, I just turn around or round a corner and there they are. Then it takes me a bit to decide which to shoot.
2. If the player is very good at pretending to be a bad AI bot (or just IS bad...).

Like I said, it could be from years of playing Mesmer in GW2. Used to illusion clones already.

I really think he needs something for a passive that works when his team is dead and he's alone though. Because the last to get knocked now no longer does squat for his passive as they took away self revive.

or just look for the one that is flickering back into view.  

Imo it would be nice if we could use his ult as a nice companhion, even for a short period of time with low dmg output. Since his clones can interact with other players in some of his emotes. I could think about splitting him in three or two when he ults too, and with a 50\50 ou 33\33\33 chance to be in right, left or middle after ulting to confusing the enemy. Aswell as giving a few invencibility frames just before the split to help it not getting damage in the proccess and giving it away the position of the real one.

choosing the side of the clones, now that’s next level.  

For a non-attacking character Mirage (in the right hands) can often be a pain in the backside to play against particularly if you don't have a scanning character in your squad.Should you down a Mirage he has several seconds of cloaking to escape & usually by then his teammates are usually in close proximity often denying you a kill & the same invisible cloaking also applies to healing downed teammates which comes very useful.

On the otherhand though a character that really needs a buff is Loba.Having played a far bit of Loba in season 14 her tactical the 'Burglar's Best Friend' just takes way too long to land.I've often been downed when I've received a fair bit of damage I attempt to throw the bracelet & having to wait so long for it to land I'm then dropped,it really needs quicker implementation.

It is when I don't see it pulled, or I happen to be looking in an area the ult wasn't popped that gets me almost everytime. 

However, yes... whenever a Mirage pulls it right in front of me, I then can always tell which is the real holographic trickster, by - as you mentioned, there are a few tell tale signs. 

The ones that don't know how to play him are usually quite obvious. However, true Mirage mains know exactly when to pull it and what to do as its pulled and immediately after. That is when I'm hooped. 

I still can't get over how effective he was in last years WE where I played him exclusively. Popping the ult worked far beyond 50%, allowing me to either get away or kill my foe. Had this Gibby I got away from (and later killed), and in the next 10-15 seconds all I heard was "you got bamboozled" voicelines. Even the tactical was far more effective than I would've imagined. All-in-all a fun legend to play, at least in these types of modes.

last i remember unless it’s been fixed, seer aim assists the real mirage target.  i don’t know how bh interaction works, does the ult show red for the decoys as well?  

thats kind of my point, how do you make him more competitive? (diamond plus).  sure he can bamboozle the low levels, doesn’t make him a great legend. 

he needs a little buffs and tweaks.  whenever his decoys get hit, instead of the running man, it highlights the enemies.

remove the annoying blue flare that is a detriment to the team using mirage.  

little changes like this will not make him op in any regard, just more playable.

yea look at the gun skins or look at he the real one flicker back into view.  it’s a dead giveaway.  

Since a lot of people seem to need this information, I've copied this from an old reddit post:

All 6 Mirage Ult Tells in method order:

1st method) use when the enemy pops it in front of you

• Emitter Lights) the real one can be tracked through following the lights that activate during the start up animation of the Ult.

• Flicker) the alternative to following the Emitter lights, the real one flickers longer than the Decoys during the start up of the Ult

2nd method) use after/with the 1st method or if the enemy didn't Ult in your line of sight

• Footsteps) Both the tactical and Ult Decoys don't make any footsteps, the real Mirage does so follow them.

3rd method) use in conjunction with the previous methods. use if the enemy is trying to hide the sounds of the footsteps by crouching or is trying to act like a stationary Decoy; or running into a wall.

• Holstered weapons) the real one has secondary weapons holstered on his back or thigh, the Ult Decoys don't replicate this.

v Additional tells that also help expose the real Mirage v

• Console aim assist) the aim assist tracks the real one and ignores the Decoys.

• Heirloom Trophy) Only the real Mirage has the trophy equipped on his back when not in use, both the Ult Decoys a Tactical Decoys don't replicate this either.

Corrections:  Since this post I copied was made, loud footsteps have been added to decoys.  And they didn't mention that Mirage's footsteps kick up dirt, while decoys do not.  In the average encounter, there is almost no reason IMO to get fooled by a Mirage ult unless the enemy is actually skilled at using him.  Skilled Mirage mains know how to work around this stuff, but in my experience only a small percentage of Mirage players one will encounter are actually skilled at using his abilities.
