@swift07He literally contradicted himself in a single sentence. I was unaware you could purchase a free item with money.
I notice this thread blew up, and rightfully so.
The long and the short of it is this; People paid real world money for an item. That item has been changed. Taking legal, illegal, p2w, all that stuff out of it, Respawn did some seriously unethical stuff here.
Someone else hit the nail on the head some posts back. But this needs to be taken seriously.
This can't be just a thing we roll over on, because it looks like they are just going to start seeing how far they can go.
Even if it was a forum sticky post outlining the forum community's stance on this. Maybe acknowledging the need for balance in the game, but that this is not the way to go about it. Recognizing that recently Respawn have been making some unethical choices and this is reflecting badly on the game. The community is suffering because of this as it is clearly sewing toxicity among its players, driving players away and making playing at this point seem trivial.
I know not everyone will see it the same way, but this is where a community needs to stand together. This is an EA forum, they might look here, and if thats what they seen, maybe they would step in and try to sort this and some of the other issues and see that we are getting sick of trying to defend this game for them.
- 3 years ago@DethMetalMilkMan And this is exactly what people don't realize, doing nothing will get you nothing. And defending the wrong things will get you more of the same. Games don't turn bad over night, it happens little by little and before you know it everyone is wondering "how did we get here?". It's a small issue, but small things add up over time.

I have a weird perspective on this, and do want to first say...technically, the gun should stay the same because it was paid for.
There's a realism sort of problem here, though, and that is...a game balance issue. The main reason I don't care so much about this is because I really do not think the gun sights are so massive an advantage as to absolutely alter the trajectory of your performance. Okay, in a game, maybe. Will the old Flatline make you the next esport superstar? No. And besides, if you are, I bet you might just have this gun, plus be still good at what you do despite the update.
See, this is where I think Respawn loses its mind. Instead of solving real problems with the game, they obsess over nonsense like Flatline sights and Gold Knockdown shields. The focus on these things is what makes them bad at what they are doing right now, not the actual change itself. So rather than sit here and argue whether the Flatline sights should have been changed or not (and probably they shouldn't have been), is less important that the argument of:
What does Respawn focus on when trying to balance its game?
This right here is the problem. Aside from stepping on a potential land mine of making older users unhappy, or the landmine of potential new users griefing over no longer being able to get the gun (and frankly, with economics involved, I'm surprised the thing hasn't been offered up for sale again, it isn't like they ever promised if you get a BP gun, someone might not be able to buy it in the future), Respawn is totally focused on the wrong thing.
You'd think they'd fix the ranked problem, or say their sound problems. I see they are working on anti-cheat, sort of. How about the way worse problems of their character imbalance? But no, here we are, once again, in a bitter battle over something that may matter, but probably matters a whole lot less than if you can hear an approaching enemy or not.
RIP proper focus on what matters.

Do you enjoy any game? Are you a member of any community? This is the toxic stuff im talking about. I hope you never have to seek support for any issue that affects you in the future.
- 3 years ago@KelRiever I don't think covering up a part of the gun took a lot of work for them to do. What I don't get is...why they would do it at the current state of the game, with all these issues everyone is unhappy about. They knew they were going to get some backlash, so why change it now? It will just add onto the list of things people will complain about.

So you admit it was funny.
- 3 years ago@LaughingSharko It seems like you get some sort of kick out of knocking people who find these changes unethical? I don't understand the reasoning behind this. You do realize that if this becomes the new norm it would affect everyone negatively at some point, right? Even you, eventually.
- BigMacAttack8u3 years agoSeasoned Ace@swift07 In response to the heavy criticism I received for my comment, I have decided to elaborate, to make it more clear. You purchased the battle pass, with money, if you don’t log in other than to purchase the pass, you only get level one rewards. If you ave to work to get through something to get an item, then you did not pay for that item, you paid for the ability to get that item. By purchasing the battle pass, you purchase the ABILITY to get those rewards for no additional cost on top of the nettle pass cost. Therefore no one bought the skin, only the ability to obtain the skin, which can technically be classified a free reward with the purchase of the battle pass. So no, you did not buy the skin, and they are only changing an item you got technically for free. I’m not saying anything other than pointing out a fun little loophole about battle passes. Also as of season 10 they can re release any battle pass in full if they want to, as of season 10, it is no longer exclusive content.
- 3 years ago@BigMacAttack8u I disagree. You cannot acquire any of the items without buying the battle pass. They are all included.
- 3 years ago@BigMacAttack8u There is a pay wall and a grind involved. Either way you are entitled to whatever is behind the paywall. Honestly, this is splitting hairs and not serving any purpose. It does not need explanation. If I may ask you, why are you defending such things when it's clearly wrong? You cannot change something if there is no proof that it actually gave players some kind of upper hand. And even if it did, why do it after, oh I don't know, what? 3 years? If it really was a problem it would have been fixed sooner. I have not once seen a post on Reddit or elsewhere saying that this cosmetic was creating a problem. What exactly are you defending here?
- 3 years ago@Unitee01 The unfortunate truth about the internet is that you will find SOME people that defend anything.
You could create a thread about chewing glass and how the act is uncomfortable, and I can assure you that there would be some people that try to convince you that chewing glass is not only ok, but good for you. - 3 years ago@Axs5626Sxa5001 OMW, dude, I like this. As I'm typing this, I'm still laughing at your comment. 🙂 So true.
- Gabrielmojo263 years agoSeasoned Ace@Unitee01 It's an ego power trip, some people just can't admit when they're wrong.
- dSKyNafinchin3 years agoHero@Gabrielmojo26 Contrary to popular belief, chewing glass has many benefits. The edges of the glass help to clean your teeth and gums, while removing any contagions that have embedded themselves in the enamel, which can be missed or hard to remove with your conventional toothbrush and dental floss. Chewing glass can also help to keep your jaw at full strength, so if you ever need to chew your way out of a bear trap, you'll be A-OK.
(Obvious joke is obvious)
On the actual skin, I don't really care personally, because I never set one skin. I always select my favorites and set it to random, for Legends and weapons. Only exception is when I get a brand new skin that I really like, then I'll run it for a few matches before going back to random favorites. I've been gaming for well over 2 decades, and have played numerous games over the years that essentially "vaulted" paid-for content, so I'm not mad about a change to the ironsight, myself. The gun and skin are still there, with a small tweak. I've never lost a gunfight because of iron sights. Unless I'm missing something from the photos, it looks almost identical to the original, and the irons actually look a little better now, in my opinion. That little open area being closed now, makes it easier for my eyes to focus on the actual reticle and my target. Still better than the Hemmy or Spitty, Lmao! (Full disclosure, I'm well into my 30's, and my eyes aren't what they used to be)
Also, to all, please be sure to keep things civil. A revolving door, need not be offensive. We're all here to game and (hopefully) have a good time! - pandareno19993 years agoHero+@dSKyNafinchin I most certainly have lost some early game gun fights because of iron sights lol! But not Flatline irons.
- dSKyNafinchin3 years agoHero@pandareno1999 I definitely have some irons that I don't like using (looking at you, Hemmy/Spitty), but the irons on the Flatline have never bothered me. I even wasted crafting metals to get the Merciless Wing skin for the Wingman, now that I am forcing myself to get better with it. The "better" irons did nothing for me, Lol!! It isn't the surroundings of the irons on the weapon that bothers me. It's the actual dot. The dot on the Wingman is massive and has that stupid ring around it, and I can't hit anything without a 1x hcog on the dang thing XD I've even started to dislike the 1x digi-scope, just because I hate having that ring around the reticle. The Merciless Wing kinda made it worse for me, because those extended sides block more of my view. I know people like that it somewhat creates a red-dot effect, but I am not a fan

@dSKyNafinchin I had in mind mostly G7, Spitfire, and Hemlok. Mostly WRT mid range fights. They're all fine for me for close range early game encounters. As we are discussing a bit elsewhere, I'm pretty convinced the Spitfire and Hemlok sights were improved in this latest patch. But I haven't played any BR yet since yesterday to test them out in game.
- BigMacAttack8u3 years agoSeasoned Ace@dSKyNafinchin I actually like the base wingman iron sights…
