Re: Skill level gradually getting worse

I also experienced the same where I started with 0,33 at the end of season 7 and improved between season 8 & 9 to 0,65 and in season 10 I was at 0,76 but now in season 11 my kd got worse. I have to add that I don't really care about my kd but through my kd I see also my improvement due to the fact that I have never touched any fps games before lol

Listening to all these post and many others in different threads - it seems like pubs is riddled with masters and preds just destroying players way beneath their skill level. I cant tell you how many times since season 11 started that players using marcos and spamming strafe and crouch faster than my controller allows me to. 

After being dropped in less than point of a second with full red shield by someone who I dropped a full clip on before he even did a 180 and started firing, I spectate. noticed less recoil with lots of them. It is not hard to see the difference from someone how worked hard to fully learn spray pattern and then apply counter accordingly  - as opposed to someone using a marcos with considerably less recoil.  

But seriously do something about the shield bat regen in unders half a second. Seen that too many times now since season 11 started. 

But yes, my opinion on the above issues does not relate mostly to fatigue, getting worse over time and so on..... its masters and preds leaving ranked and cleaning up pubs. I saw one player with a level 39 badge that had over 6000 kills with Ash...Ash! At that time season 11 and ash had only existed for just over 2 weeks, over 260 wins with her. This persons partner had equal style stats....low badge level with over 5000 kills. How is it possible to be a level 39 with over 6000 kills with a character that just launched....How?? Im pretty sure these ppl are not playing Apex 25 hours a day 8 days a week. WTF! 

Balance of probability is the key factor here. It rarely is incorrect. 

I just had another disastrous streak. All I got was... 2 kills with Valk, and those were pure luck. 

I was in a premade with @maximas1986 and for the first 4 games, the champion squad had someone with 20 bomb badges. Why am I being paired with these people? I can barely get 3 kills once in a blue moon basically. But Respawn thinks I can somehow take on them. Like, yeah, right. I stopped calling SBMM "skill-based" because it clearly isn't.

And even when we won this 1 game, I was still unsatisfied because I basically did nothing. Screenshot below, it literally screams "Why am I even here?"

Also, I took a closer look at my stats. I have 98 wins... 43 of those were from season 5. So this means not only I was bad then (which was fine since I was new and all) but I have declined since instead of improving. 

Arenas are going better. Here is another screenshot from one of my matches. Not saying they all go like this, but at least I can get a few kills...

Btw Max told me to practice in Arena with AA off. I have not turned it off, but I set it from 0.6 to 0.4, like PC. Can I say it was really something? I broke my record by far. Now my record is 11 kills and 3841 damage in an arena match. My Mirage teammate did also solidly well, 6 kills and 2700ish damage. My other Lifeline teammate was useless (hey, just like me in BR mode), she got no kills and 700ish damage. But hey we won, so I won't complain.

I couldn't take the screenshot, because I was remote-playing on my Xbox from my PC, and its not possible to take screenshots while in that state. My Xbox is in the living room and my mom is sleeping there, so... yeah.

@maximas1986 I know right? I usually play offline games. Apex can lag on his own, adding the remote-lag on top on that is not very nice. Again, it happens sometimes but I can play fine, mostly.

And even offline it can be annoying. For example, I played the campaigns on Halo MCC on remote many times, and I had some of my LASO runs ruined due to remote lag. Yeah it happened.
What is LASO? Oh idk, all I know is that calling it "insane" is an understatement.

Ok so I have many things to say. First off, here is my screenshot showing my 3841 damage and 11 kills in an arena match, which I took from my stat screen in the lobby. I couldn't take it right after the game, sadly. Nonetheless, I am happy with this. 

So, Max told me to practice BR with no-fill on. I used this chance to keep track of the players that kill me. This is something I've never done before, because I assumed the matchmaking couldn't be that bad. Boi was I wrong. Remember what I said before? That it feels like I am going against people who play Apex 25/8? Turns out, I am really going against people who play Apex 25/8! 

I tried maybe 8-9 games with no-fill on. It was a disaster. I got only one kill. And this was a Gibraltar who was stuck in the DC limbo. I can tell you right now that in at least 6 of those games, I was killed by people who had either 20 bomb badges, 4K damage badges, or both. Screenshot below, it is just one example. 

Why are these people in the lobby with me? Honestly. I never had a KD above 1, I rarely get 3 kills, let alone 20. And yet I find these kind of players all over. This isn't funny at all. Honestly, SBMM needs to stop being marketed as "skill-based", because it clearly isn't. If it was, I doubt I would see these players this often.  

But you know, there is another thing that struck me. And I cannot wrap my head around it. I am talking about... why am I seeing these players more often than not in enemy squads, and yet, they never seem to be on MY team? Like seriously, the teammates I get are anything but preds/masters with 20 bomb/4K badges. They might have some decent stats, but nothing that can be compared with preds/masters. I seriously cannot recall the last time I had such players in my team. I am not even sure if I had them at all, and that really says something. Is literally every (and I mean, EVERY) pred/master playing 3-stacked or what?

Also, I wanted to show you all this, my season 5 stats compared to overall stats. Notice how my KD is just the same. And yet in that season, I piled up 43 BR wins, which is almost half of my overall wins. I was not even taking the game seriously at the time, because I was just starting out with it, so I fully expected to be not good (especially coming from an offline background).

Also, notice my highest kills (7), and damage (1769) in a BR game... well guess what? I achieved those in season 5 and I was not able to replicate it ever since. 

I don't know what the state of SBMM was at the time, but something tells me it was probably in a better shape than now...

Ok, so, now a more positive note. Once I was done with no-fill, I got back to team play. I played maybe 4-5 games, but I increased my kill count from 781 to 798. Wow, did I really have these amount of kills in just a few games? Madness. And yes, I was on 0.4 AA. Just wow, I hope this is a sign of improvement, and not just SBMM being nice.

@Cheese9Man bruh, 47% is for Arenas. On BR I am probably sitting at 3%.

@AcidicSoda44031  My bad I didn't notice that was arenas stats! LOL. My current theory about arenas still having a broken MM is the lack of players playing in this mode. Respawn have said that there's a "hidden MMR" for the matchmaking in arena pubs but after multiple posts in the forums I doubt that that's the only metric used for matchmaking.

I love your tenacity and grit in trying to improve in this game. 💪

Sharing my S11 arenas stats just in case. LOL. Respawn just please bring team deathmatch or other modes for arenas!
