Re: They should add a Replay when you die

@johnmiceter While this works for Overwatch, it's not good for Apex. If you die but your teammates are still alive, the replay would expose valuable information about their location, movement or strategy, giving your team an unfair advantage sometimes. On the other hand, Apex has a long TTK and a KD state which usually gives enough time to locate and counter most attackers. The knockdown state is also something that makes a killcam replay more troublesome, the server would have to hold that data for easy access for a while, then sending that replay data together with that for the spectator mode, which would clearly be an additional stress on the server.

  • @DoYaSeeMe The replay will only show what you have already seen. If someone is shooting you, I mean you would be aware where he is. It isn't going to show where the enemy went after killing you, I mean that's why it's called a death cam right?

COD Warzone has death cams afaik. I don't see why Apex can't have the feature. Waiting 5 mins to spectate a cheater is not feasible really.

@BaldWraithSimp @BaldWraithSimp not entirely true. Maybe I see only one enemy, but the killcam reveals that his teammates are around him as well, hiding and preparing to ambush my teammates. I might see the defense that he did or didn't prepare, which is not clear from 100m+ away. From the enemy's view, I might also see teams about to 3rd party my teammates.

Anyway, the fact that death in Apex is not immediate diminishes the effect of the killcam by a lot, to the point where it could become an annoyance after a short while. I'm even annoyed by the fact that I don't go automatically into spectate mode when I'm eliminated, it would be pretty bad to have another step added (killcam skip). After squad elimination, I wouldn't stay to watch my death from a few minutes ago for sure. I would spectate if there's a suspicion, otherwise I'd be out to queue for the next match.

Having immediate replay because the enemy might be a cheater is not a valid reason. Why should legit players lose some tactical advantages because of an assumption? Also, don't you think that fresh killcam data would be valuable in the hand of hackers?
  • @hayhor Titanfall 2 has killcam as well, if I remember correctly. Therefore, I'm pretty sure Apex had this feature on during development and they had some valid reasons to turn it off.
