well i could just as easily use the scroll wheel but that's just annoying on my mouse, so no. As for the WASD I could just click those but its easier to bind them to one key instead, and because it's easier, I guess that might be an unfair advantage, but if I can do it, then everyone else can, so no for that
@l776-Maverick then why are macros explicitly banned for the algs, as they give unfair advantage?
Use of all 3rd party software is bannable.
So I asked if I would get banned because I didn’t know, you asked me if I think it’s unfair, and I said no. Then you proceeded to ask me, if I don’t find them unfair, why are they banned. So idk if you remember my original question, so I’ll repeat, will I get banned? Understand what that means? Yea I means I didn’t know they were banned that’s why I came here🤦♂️
No need to get snobby, I’m guessing your some console player who was pressed at even the thought of someone asking this question.
@l776-Maverick don't know if you saw the edit to my above post?
Explain how binding one button, to a different button is unfair?
I see it, but that doesn’t effect at all my original reply to it
@l776-Maverick The answer to the question seemed obvious to me.
It’s definitely not at all obvious why binding one key to a different key is advantageous
@l776-Maverick your og question was about using a macro, not a rebind of a single button.
I asked a question about both but you chose to selectively read, maybe go back and read it

@l776-MaverickHey there, using macros to perform an automated movement or shooting mechanic for you is a bannable offense. Remapping a key to another key, however, is not.
As @E9ine_AC stated yes using Macros is banable. Perform it at your own risk.
@OldTreeCreeper was trying to help you out so no need to get all nasty about it.
Maybe you should re-read the terms of service agreement that you agreed to.
@E9ine_ACThis is what I was thinking. I use an Elite 2.0 controller on Xbox, and can remap any of my controller buttons however I see fit. It's built into the controller, an official Xbox controller, so I don't see how moving a button would be a bannable offense, personally. None of my paddles are on the default setting, as I remapped all 4 of them to my own preference. I even switch around the face buttons and bumpers/triggers on some games
Wow your the only helpful person on here, thanks
- @l776-Maverick It’s not allowed in the ALGS so most likely it’s bannable. All of the replies are general advices based from general knowledge or experience. Bans are still case to case basis by Hideout’s team but since you made an effort of asking, then deep down you know it’s not 100% legal.
Add more details to your original post next time so people can help you easier. So the actual expert already said that using macros to rebind keys is not bannable, I asked because I didn’t know no because “deep down” I think there’s something wrong, because personally I think it’s totally fine

Hi guys, bickering does no good, let's keep things civil.
I will say that your initial question is a little unclear to me so please forgive me if I misinterpret.
If you want to use m5 as a key, you can just rebind it to a function via in-game means.
However it sounds like you want to use it as a key that replicates the function of a moving mousewheel. This would absolutely not be ok, it would be using a single keystroke to replicate the use of many inputs.
If I got your meaning right, I hope this clears things up.
As stated here, you'll generally want to stay away from macros, and stick to the rebinds supported natively in the game. Yes, scrolling every time I tap strafe is fatiguing for my index finger, so it’s easier to do a click than a quick scroll.
The way I see it, one scroll is one keystroke, so one keystroke replacing one scroll doesn’t sound unfair. I could just as easily use the scroll wheel, but like I said it’s fatiguing after a while
@EA_DavidThank you for the input! I am not sure how it works on PC, but I feel like I'm ok remapping my controller buttons on Elite controller, since it's an official Xbox product, and stays within the boundaries you just mentioned. I'm not duplicating an input. I'm just moving them around to a different layout.
Didn't even know you can do that through the in-game settings. Good to know!@l776-Maverick From what David stated, I definitely would not be doing what you are asking about, personally. The scroll wheel is a little different than pressing a button a single time, so switching a scroll (i.e. multiple inputs, repeatedly) to a single-input button, would not be OK, from what he said. Always better to be safe, than sorry!
I’m not going to do it now because he said it’s probably not ok, but I still don’t see in any way how it’s unfair, one scroll is one stroke, it doesn’t matter how many inputs it makes, that’s what the scroll wheel does, I could just as easily get a mouse that has buttons for scrolling instead of a wheel. Also most mice have options to disable the scroll wheel entirely and uses the side buttons for scrolling up and down pages. So again, this doesn’t make any sense
- @dSKyNafinchin At issue are macros and on a related note, config files like one-press superglide. Remapping a key or button to another to is not an issue. What is not allowed are things that combine several actions into a single key press.
This makes more sense cause scripts like the one you mentioned takes away the skill of timing a super glide, remapping scroll doesn’t take away any skill, and scrolling doesn’t require anything but basic use of your prefrontal cortex and index finger
@l776-Maverick In my mind the use you describe is borderline. I can see your point and David's as well. I'd be interested to see what Mokey and others might say if you posted this question to the ApexRollouts subreddit. I think he'd agree that it is borderline and advise against it.
