Regarding PS4 version shotgun underutilization, AR and SMG hip fire strength.

@KelRiever The issue with the prowler is as kyldenar says, the mag. This really showed in gun run as it was white mag I believe. With a purple mag it can be a beast in burst. I like it is kept a burst gun but make it stronger. The tradeoff for it not being easy auto is it has more bullets.

Sorry, I know its 5 not 3, I should have said limited bullet burst.

My problem is not just magazine size, but you have to hit with like every shot to be worth it, and that's probably not happening at close range with the Prowler.

The idea of a heavy round SMG is good, limiting burst size is not. A purple mag can help, you are right too, but I don't think I'd pack a purple mag on a Prowler over a Flatline, which is infinitely more useful

For me the prowler holds attachments till I find a CAR.

Right! I forget mentioning the CAR, I mean, in particular this SMG which can use all the same attachments is so much more useful.

@KelRiever You won't hit all your shots with a Car either tho. At one point a burst prowler was highest dps in the game. Every high level player who didn't use a shotty went to it because in hip fire it did the most damage and was the most accurate. Then they nerfed it and now it sits there with no one using it. If it has one more burst per mag size I'd use it.
