If you watch any high level ranked, you will see a lot of teams staying for so late in zone with heat shields. It promotes degenerate behavior. Again doesn't matter in pubs or ranked that much, and removing it isn't going to make the ranked experience any different.
@Gator762FMJ I was not referring specifically to Hal's post because i know basically most of pros hate gold knockdowns. And i also don't like them because i feel like it is not a skillful feature. You knock the entire team and still it's not enough to kill definitely the squad, and in the meantime you get thirdpartied. Maybe you manage to kill even that team, but then the solo that had a gold knockdown comes back at you and wins the game. It doesn't require any skill to do this and it happened to me multiple times (this usually happens in higher tier lobbies, lower ranks are not a issue). Don't get me wrong though, it's not like i hate them and i'm not saying it ruins the game entirely, but i feel like removing them at least in ranked would improve things.
I agree with all @BaldWraithSimp said. Pros also have the right to whine just like we do here on the forum asking for nerfs/buffs. I don't understand all this hate for them.
- 4 years ago@Cro_Pittt I haven't watched any Tournament play in a while, but earlier when I did I can't recall where a gold knockdown was ever a factor.
I agree with @rockyboy1998
"The gold knockdown is fun in pubs, it can be really useful at times but in ranked in honestly it's pointless. In ranked regardless of whatever knockdown shield you have you get finished instantly because of KP and it is very very rare that you even get the chance to crawl away to safety let alone self revive yourself."
In ranked, I find even the regular knockdown shields almost pointless and would argue they need to cover a bigger arc, because whenever I am knocked I am finished in half a frickin' second from a quick side strafe R9 or PK blast.
Whenever I pop something for gold loot, gold knockdowns are the single most disappointing thing, followed closely to a gold sniper mag. But I think they should remain in the game. They're fun in that 1 in 1000+ game where you actually pull it off. 🙂
If the ALGS pros are ignoring knocked players to finish remaining members of the squad, it's on them. They know they are in the game. Of course, they also know they are not very common and are taking a gamble that the knocked player/players don't have one, and they're crying when they lose that gamble.- 4 years ago
@Gator762FMJ You're missing the fact that in high tier lobbies and tournaments the level is so high that you simply do not have the time to finish your knocks because an instant third party will come. Not always, but it happens quite a lot. I don't think a pro can't deal with a golden knockdown but sometimes is just impossible, hence the "crying".
A way back they were allowed in tournaments and i remember clearly a situation where a solo guy selfrevived and won because the other team got thirdpartied. I suffered with the team that lost lol.
- 4 years ago@Cro_Pittt This is ridiculous reasoning for 2 reasons. First, if the person doesn't pop their shield, you can finish them in a few shots. It takes less than a second. Second, if the person does pop their shield, you know instantly that they have a gold knockdown and need to down them.
