That was a good read, and I have a lot of sympathy for you. Especially your observation that, and I'm paraphrasing here, while all shooters are hard on the ego, battle royale games are particularly brutal. They are. This one certainly is. I think you would have found it less so at the beginning when we were all closer together on the learning curve, and when skill-based matchmaking still seemed to be a regular game feature. They claim they're going to tighten it up a lot in a soon-to-drop update, but I'm not very hopeful given that it has got so bad they could "improve" it 150% and still not get very good results. And we haven't even started talking about how badly compromised the game is by cheaters and smurfs.
If it's a shooter experience you're after, but not battle royale, and if studio/publisher politics is a thing for you, then what about Halo? Don't tell me. You're Playstation, right? Oh well....
Lastly there's this:
"Considering too that the only way to do well in a BR is to win..."
I feel like we could have a pages-long discussion on this point alone, but I'm gonna leave it for now and see if anyone else takes it up.

- 3 years ago@reconzero I'm on PC and Halo is practically dead. No one's really interested in both the gameplay and the IP surrounding Halo. People love the diversity of characters and high stakes gameplay in Apex. 343 Industries maintains the Halo IP and people really hate them for the monetization of Halo Infinite and how they're handling Halo in general. Destiny 2 is the only thing that's non-BR that comes close to Apex but Bungie, who maintain Destiny 2, have been incredibly low profile, they've have had a controversy with content vaulting and I suck at its PvP (I'd rather watch videos surrounding the lore than play through the PvE most of the time now).
I was carried close to Apex's launch by more competent players several times to being Champion.
I want an EA and Respawn employee to read this. They most need to read this. Some of us randoms online feel this way but have not had anything.- 3 years ago@Emery_XP Destiny close in terms of what ?
- 3 years ago@matzesingt Player numbers and perhaps revenue.
