Revenant buff/change idea

Ok so I'm not a pro player (or even very good) so I don't claim to know what's best but I had an idea for a Revenant buff (might not be a buff, but a change at least). Tell me what you think.

Ultimate: Death Totem - Removed

New Ultimate: (whatever you want to call it, Shadow form?)

Transform into a silent shadow, becoming the ultimate assassin. Move silently for the duration, (downing opponents extend duration?)

When used, emits a very loud initial audio cue and Revenant is visually wreathed in shadow (same or similar effects to current death totem shadow effects) (perhaps also alerts in the feed similar to death totem?)

While transformed all Revenant's movement makes no sound.

Durations up for debate, perhaps 3min recharge and 30sec duration same as bloodhound? Perhaps it could have a mechanic for extending the duration similar to bloodhound also? If that's not too strong.

This fits with Revenant's theme of being an assassin, supports a flanking playstyle and is powerful in the right hands but not as situational or difficult to use as death totem.

Also easy to implement from a developer perspective so won't require a lot of resources. Easy to tweak durations to find the right balance.

Thoughts?

  • @MachineCode Considering the rest of his kit, he'll lack any team function "game suffers enough from greedy movements, we don't need a complete solo-ist" and big voices "streamers, pros" are gonna scream if they can't hear somebody flanking them.

The teamplay aspect is a good point. His silence provides some team utility already right? Though it might not be enough, I hadn't considered that aspect.

The idea behind the loud audio que (and possible callout in the feed) is to alert players to watch their backs because a silent revenant might be around. If the initial sound que is audible to everyone within a wide range, players will at least have a warning to keep a look out and not rely on sound completely. Additionally using ziplines, and other map based movement abilities would still create noise as normal. Plus he can still get revealed by bloodhound, crypto etc etc as normal. Do you think that would provide enough balance?

Considering there are already abilities that allow players to surprise the enemy with stuns/slows/interrupt, or provide intel on precise enemy location from safety, 30 seconds of silent sprinting doesn't strike me as much more oppressive than those abilities. Of course, I could be wrong on that.

@MachineCode "surprise" ... Ash's is slow with big visiual, Maggie's is situationaly effective, majority will gun down Crypto's drone before it can go off, Bang and Gibby relies on the other team not being able to move and a outdoor area, very rare for somebody to willingly walk through a Wattson fence and hiding the fence isn't thought of by most and quick reaction is needed to pull it of. In a third party, not everyone will the hear sound go off, even worse if a Ash or Octane used their ults to help the rev get to a better position.

Although silence helps the team, it's very minimal compared to current ult, let alone other kits "Caustic can hold down a building, most characters can't do the same".
