The apex universe is top notch. The characters, the writing, the lore, the voice acting, high production. Where it lacks is the laggy controls, the sbmm, the loot boxes. The marketing targeting children is especially concerning, however I don't assume bad intentions.Two items:Ruthless profit schemes hinder income short and long term. I don't have all the data but this is basic principle.If apex is a competitive shooter it doesn't feel like one, just like a ford truck doesn't feel like a race car.Just ruminating. Criticism breeds innovation. Good luck EA, gaming is the future. Previous and current cash tactics will not apply to the smarter upcoming generations. Transparency is key moving forward.

Like Shroud explained, BR's are too luck based to be considered competitive, but what @RaisinFlakes might be referring to might be different.

My k/d is artifically very high, I'm a day-one player with around 19,000 matches, I almost always solo queue, and my happy load out is a c.a.r. and a charge rifle, and my win-rate is (just guessing here) above average. And yet I NEVER see these brutal, master/pred three stack lobbies that everyone is horrified by, unless I see them all the time and don't even realize it (which seems unlikely to me). This game mostly puts me in what I think are pretty low-experience lobbies. My teammates are usually fairly green, and my enemy squads are better, but only because the only enemy squads I choose to deal with are the ones who have survived to the end of the match. I'm not sure what any of this says about how matchmaking works in this game. There's definitely a pattern to it, but I'm hard pressed to figure it out. Unless the solo queue part is what keeps me out of the real trouble.

@swift07 In competitive, not ranked or pubs, ring rng is a huge factor. A southern tip landing team will have a tough battle to try to win a game in a northern zone. This is why comp is a lot of games and not just one. The other big rng in comp is teams making poor decisions and sending into another team, resulting in both dying. This usually happens when one has better position than the other and a 3rd is lurking. In the Valk meta this has gotten worse. Teams coming in late due to the zone rng are able to fly over other teams and try to force their way into the best spot, usually resulting in both teams dying.All this being said, the teams that are best at understanding the above do rise to the top most consistently. A team that can run edge as well as quick rotate depending on the situation usually is best.

@swift07 There is something off with the precision and sensitivity of the Look Controls, something within the bowels of the software. I think it cannot be fixed. I have tried many monitors and control devices, nothing changed.

Precision and reflex is the core of most competitive environments. This is a problem with the game, and when there are problems there is money to be made.

@RaisinFlakes lol that is what you meant, when you mentioned competitive? I was thinking you were referring to your opponents or teammates. I use ALC and it's been fine. Not sure why you're having that problem and I wouldn't know how to diagnose that, since I'm unfamiliar with that issue. Maybe it is the game, wouldn't surprise me.

If I remember right, he made his name in Counter Strike. Sure he plays battle royale, but the arena shooter mindset is a hard thing to shake.

There is more rng involved for some players than for others. Most players take rng as a given, a fixed and immutable feature of the game. And it isn't. I think the players who figure this out win more. I call that the opposite of luck.

As for the definition of "competitive," if most of the players with high win rates believe that they're just lucky then they would quickly leave this "uncompetitive" game. They don't because it isn't. It's a broader use of the word, but to my mind that makes the game more competitive, not less. Semantics.

Is "The program hinders the users ability" a reference to the laggy controls you spoke of earlier? This isn't something I've had a problem with. Could be a skill thing, but could it also be a hardware or connection thing???

@reconzero Competition is generally activities where participants compete on an even playing field, to show their own strengths. Rng is a chance that can either be an advantage or disadvantage, and there's plenty of it in BR's. You can be the best team and still lose because of bad rng.

Shroud isn't just a CS player, the guy is a legend in CS. One of, if not, the best player ever. Not just because of his gun skills, but his game IQ.

@swift07Greater skill over time will provide long term positive results, if one is better than their opponents. Every action can be calculated very precisely to almost solving the game, almost. That would be extremely burdensome for the average user. RNG is only relevant in a single match and since it exists as a rule in the arena for all players, it has no weight on long term success.

@RaisinFlakes Yes, over time a better player will have better results. My point is...there's a good amount of rng involved in BR's. It could be off drop with weapons and items, movement of the circle, 3rd parties, and a lot of other things. It might make the match easier or more difficult. Competition in general, not just speaking of video games, are done with 2 or more individuals/teams with the same playing field, without rng built into the activity. You look at sports, there's no object involved that can produce multiple outcomes.

@swift07 It handles poorly, like an old vehicle. When the program does not respond to input as well or better as previous and current titles, like cod, it is a lesser league sport, competitive? Yes, but as I said the program hinders the users ability. We provide the best equipment and technology to professional athletes so that we can observe the apex of human performance. If we hinder the athletes in a sport, the apex is not reached. This should be terrifying for a company who wishes to command a lead. The cream will rise, cutting corners or providing less than the best software will result in 2nd place at best.

Yes, in sports we are observing the competition between individuals or teams without outside factors, such as rng.
