S22 - Suddenly, Apex feels weird (netcode, no-regs etc.)

Hey community,

since a couple of days (it started with the launch of S22), Apex just feels...strange.
For me, It takes f.e. a full Flatline-mag to down my opponents - I (on the other hand) keep getting downed with just 2 or 3 shots. Shots that shouldn't have hit me at all since I already was behind cover. I´m getting beamed again and again.

In the killcam I can see that I was standing in a hail of bullets for like 2 seconds before I was finally downed - a typical netcode-problem.
Apex has been reinstalled just to make sure, the prob was not on my side but: no change so far.

So Respawn: Please fix your game!

Anyone else?

@r1ggedgame So what you are saying is that they've crammed in too much stuff and now the netcode can no longer handle it. That right?

I'm not a programmer so once you start talking in code details it just sounds like a foreign language to me.

@HappyHourSumwur basically yes, at least that is what we experienced while modding the Quake3 Engine.
Nowadays games are way more complex, so even a slight change on one end that doens't even look like it would be responsible could lead to weird side-effects, making it super painful to debug , especially when it seemed to work flawless while testing.
One thing is for sure, the game doesn't behave like it did seasons ago.
I'll invite you to watch Battle(non)sense Video on YT, might give you some deeper knowledge on whats happening, even if you aren't a network professional.

So couldn’t we just change the packet size by adjusting our MTU?

no, this will only lead to fragmented packets if you exceed the value your isp wants (likely something around 1500 or a bit lower, which is the ethernet default), pretty much the same result as the game servers do atm.
setting your MTU to a wrong value will also hurt all your internet traffic , not only the apex one.
