Seer is overpowered
After playing many rounds I think that the Seer disturbs the gameplay and is definitely broken. Problem 1: Everyone sees everyone. Hackers do the exact same thing. There is simply no fun in it when...
@Masterfulpeon
oh, wow, that's crazy.
Come on Travis really - "With that being said is probably a bit too strong at the moment" - Probably?
You guys are video game developers, meaning you most likely are video game enthusiasts and people who grew up playing video games your whole lives to pick a career in video game development / design. As most or almost all video gamers know, that the most frustrating part of online multiplayer gaming is Hackers and their Hacks. It plagues the industry and is an absolute cancer. Now - There are a few disturbing issues here, which I can't decide which is most disturbing...you decide.
One - That you the Devs, who I am assuming hate hacks and hackers themselves - actually created a character that can do the very thing that destroys the online gaming industry. Mind boggling!
Two - Your employers hire and have on their payroll individuals that work to prevent and stop the very thing you now created in Seer. Why do you pay employees to work at stopping hackers then pay others to create characters that can hack? - Yes Seer hacks. I would love to hear your explanation between wall hacks and Seer's passive/tac. Please, enlighten me. Logical wisdom only please.
Three - Was there not a single Respawn employee that while creating, building this character and the entire season 10 around him or even just on the sideline watching not voice - "Umm, do you think it is right to build a character with abilities identical to wall hacks?
Seriously, did any one of the video game developers even think for a second that as angry as hacks make gamers, that this might not be a good idea. Come on, really? You guys made a character that can wall hack or UAV hack 24/7 by the touch of one button at any given time. I am completely dumb founded. A 10 year old kid could have figured that out the minute the idea was created in mind and voiced for the first time. How are game developers not able to think rationally in regards to a character that can cheat!?
Also, did you guys test the character in game? Have you seen what happens when 4 Seers are all battling in the same area?? I have.... the visual aspect of the game is disgusting to say the least! 4 or more seers all using their tacs and ults at the same time. I didn't even think I was playing the same game - cant see anything but blips, lights and visual garbage exploded on screen. It was sickening. Cant even see what I am aiming at, or can tell which one is friendly or foe, and forget about sound at that point. Did none of you notice that? How can something that impactful be overlooked?
Yous have stated that Apex is a shooter first and foremost in the past, the direction yous seem to be going with Apex is nowhere I wish to go from here. The fact that Respawn devs are now telling us that legends that can hack is ok - has made my faith in Respawn to create and develop and build a fun and fair gaming experience diminish completely.
I hear you....but lets look at Bloodhound. One of the devs tried to justify seer using BH. First off, we all know BH's tac has shorter range / it has a cool down / also, BH has to choose wisely when to use it and when not to use it - as using it gives away his position to teams possibly able to flank from the side or behind. Also - every time BH uses his tac, the team being scanned have a ballpark idea of where it came from hence to know the ruff positioning of BH without knowing exactly where he is.
When I get scanned by BH's tac, first you know its coming before it sweeps across you, so before it sweeps me, I quickly go in a direction I don't really want to go in....the second the sweep passes over me and then disappears, I quickly bust a 180 and head in the opposite direction, hoping that BH thinks I am going in the direction he saw me going during scan. As I do this, I know that BH may also anticipate this and do the same thing. Cool part is, I won't know until I go around the corner and either his back is to me or he is ready for me and kicks my *. Either way, its exciting and makes for some good fun! I am sure there is more that I am missing but that's enough to make my point. Seer - well, that's a whole different ball game. I personally wouldn't call BH's tac a wall hack as it is short, takes time to use and has negative factors to using it as well. I have never had a problem with BH. I think he is a great legend and his skills are excellent for this BR. That sad reality that seer's passive is actually more powerful than BH's tac is ridiculous.
Look at wraith, her passive says, "I think I'm being targeted." - it doesn't tell you exactly where from. Same with BH's passive, it shows you that people have been here and went this way. It doesn't tell you exactly when they went through there, or where they are exactly. Its just a lil something to assist you but won't make or break the outcome of a match, fire fight and so on.
Seer's passive is probably more powerful than the average legends tac and even more powerful than some ults - that right there is a problem on a biblical scale.
So I found out today while playing that seer's tac, also stops you from reviving teammates. WTF!? My caustic partner went down and while reviving him I got to about 90% and then seer's tac went off, and it not only stopped the revive, but also kicked me back a couple feet. We then died. Really respawn, really?? You have 18 characters and not one of them whether it be passive's, tactical or ult have the ability to stop healing, shielding or reviving - except seer. What were you guys thinking?? Gibby's bombs doesn't even stop me from reviving, neither do bullets but seer stops all.
I noticed too many times playing the last couple days when in duos mode, when I am selecting first, my random partner always puts his cursor onto seer telling me that they wish to select him. But once I select my main, they immediately pick someone else. I laughed my * off after the 15th time this happened, realizing that the reason they do this is because they don't want to play with a seer on their team.
I have backed out of every single match where one of my random teammates picks a seer. I refuse to play with a seer as I feel terrible for using him and honestly I feel like a gutless coward and do not wish to play well or win in such a dishonorable way.
My son and I played duos and he used seer for the first time. We won that match with ease. It was pathetic. He just kept saying, "oh there's a guy right here, wait a sec and I'll tell you how many there are, what shield they have and how much of it is full." I felt horrible wiping out players that way. Just disgusting. After our win, my son said "that was terrible and I will never use him again!"
Nerfing his passive will not make a single difference at this point. A possible solution to a passive for seer that matches many others would be just a heart beat pulse like now only. Nothing else, and have it pulse when a enemy is within a certain radius like 20-50 feet. That way seer knows that someone is close by but does not know where, Like wraiths passive or BH's passive. Seems fair to me.
But for the love of god!!! - please do something about seer's tac and ult in regards to the unplayable visual garbage plaguing the entire screen. Just literally unplayable. Visually disgusting. Worst thing ever!!
