Review and Feedback of the game :

Hello guys and girls,

I just joined Apex Legends and was kind of disappointed by the game, I know you will certainly all see me as a "newbie" or such but I have spent more than 10 years of my life playing Shooters, Actions, first or third person... So feel free to ignore my post if you don't intend to take me seriously only from this first sentence (and I would also like to apologize for the possible mistakes I will make in this post, I'm not a native english speaker).

So to resume, I will make a little feetback of my experience in this game and then give some "advices" that I think would help improve the game and maybe save it (because playing 10 games in a row with the same players kinda feels like the community is slowly dying). And if other users want to add something or correct me on some points, feel free to give an answer.

First, the Movements :

The characters feels heavy (not as much as some other games but still), i understand this was made to make the players being careful because it takes longer to aim after a sprint than after simply walking, but the thing is players do aim very rarely in this kind of game except if they intend to camp for a long time so in my point this feature is rendered null against a rusher (because rushers won't take time to aim).

Second, the Battle Royal mode :

I know the BR got really popular after the famous films "Hunger Games" were released, but man, those films are almost 10 years old now and you are not the first ones to release that kind of Team Death Match (yeah, because you know, a "Free for All" mode is very simple, a certain number of players and only one will win) calling it "Battle Royal" when it clearly is not a "Battle Royal" so i think you made a good copy paste of what other game developpers already copied before you.

Third, the Arena Mode :

The concept in itself is almost the same as your "BR", it's a Team Death Match in a more simple version, and a friend of mine explained to me that you want to keep it as it is (a Team Death match) and such are reluctant to create a 1v1 version of this using the excuse of "not want for the game to become competitive"... I don't know if you are dumb or something, but your game is 100% PvP oriented and by such is 100% competitive... players are always in a win or loose situation, if this is not the essence of competition then i don't know what it is.

Fourth, the Weapons and Maps :

I have nothing to say about the weapons overall except that they all resembles each other and that whatever weapon you use, you will always end up using it the same way because you created the maps (All of your maps, Arena and Battle Royal included) in such a way that rushing the opponent will always reward you, so Snipers certainly are the less used amongst all and at this point you could even completly remove the Snipers from the game that it will change nothing since Assault Rifles/Shotguns/Submachines all works at the same range (range that can change according to your experience using them).

Fifth, the Legends :

I also have nothing much to say about the legends, depending on the players is abilities, even the cheapest and useless of them can become deadly but this applies only to experienced players since beginners will mainly focus on handling their weapons and not really care about the differences in abilities each possess.

List of "advices" or "changes to make" :

   - The sprint can't be stopped manually in a natural way (maybe it was made to create some kind of inertia) and that sucks a lot, It would be better if we could stop the sprint by simply releasing the W key instead of waiting a second before being able to walk normally.

It would also be cool if we had some kind of dodge or sideways jump, because right now the SHIFT key only serves for running and limits greatly the ways of playing one or another weapon.

   - As mentioned earlier, for me, what you calls "Battle Royal" is nothing more than a Team Death Match, so you have a choice to make :
1 : make it a real Battle Royal (Free for All) by abandonning the squad concept
2 : make it a real Team Death Match by allowing players to play with at least 4 players, adding a scoring goal (score that will evolve depending on the number of ennemy teams eliminated) and replacing the actual reanimation concept with a fixed number of lives you are allowed to spend for the whole squad

but for both of those choices, it would also be better to allow players to choose a safe spot from other teams, also to choose with which weapon they want to begin, and finally to make all the teams spawn at the same time on the map (because teams that landed the earliest have more chances to win since they were able to loot more around the whole map, giving them a ressources advantage (the random spawn of the loot is not an excuse, it only makes it worst))

   - You may not like it, but for you arena mode to really work out, you will have to create a 1v1 feature, and it would also be nice to create multiple leaderboards for the possible ranked arena depending on the fact that you are playing 1v1, 2v2 or 3v3 and why not even a 4v4 ?

It would also be good to forget about the loots and materials in arena, same for the support loot spawn, players rarelly use those since the first to rush is the first to win in almost 8 out of 10 games with the actual maps

   - So yeah, my next advice is about the maps, you tried to mix open fields with enclosed environment and well... it doesn't really work either... because of that experienced players literally have no use in 1/2 of the weapons you created.

You can create a large map with open fields there and there for Snipers/Assault Rifles or a small enclosed map with a lot of obstacles for Submachines/Shotguns but if you want to mix them both then you will need an even larger map but at this point it would be meaningless to create a map the size of a city for only 6 players to kill each others and such meaningless to even create an arena mode since all the maps of your "Battle Royal" already correspond to the latter category so you will also need to create new maps for your Arena mode.

   - Now it would also be great to add some melee weaons since rushers tends to use their fists instead of reloading, this would be a great addition to their gameplay and also create new mechanics, even for players who tends to rely on their guns since they will have to adapt to it and find a way to counter those (but that doesn't mean that you are allowed to create a one shot melee weapon only because they possess no range compared to guns).

   - Last but not least, the leave busters... Why not allow players to join a game which already started ? I mean, since their is always a certain break time between each round, would that really be so difficult to create ? Because I already found myself alone against a full team because my "mates" left for no reason at the first round, this happened quite some times and is really annoying since i can't report those players once they left and also because only 10 minutes of wait after leaving a game is simply not enough of a punishment, so I would like to ask what can be and what cannot be done on that side ?

Thank you for reading this feedback of mine and feel free to answer me.

  • @Sumixorp987 doesn't matter what the origin is, this is a squad-based battle royale where last squad standing takes the win. As it has been already stated multiple times in the past, solo mode doesn't suit Apex and will never happen as stated by the devs themselves. It was done once in the past as a limited mode, but never came back after that.

They don't need to include Wall jumps as it's already a feature, plus a lot of movement techs you can master. Only two characters feel heavy due to their animation that is Caustic and Gibby, I have never experienced any issues besides that.

As for including 4 players, anything more than 3 would be just pure cancer imo. It would be fun as a limited time mode, perhaps to see how it feels.

So bottomline, converting it into a free for all(solo mode) or even a squad of 4 is likely never going to happen considering game has already been out for over 2 years. Even tho Fortnite and Warzone also have same base concept, they couldn't be any more different so I don't see how anyone could call it a 'copy paste'.
