Sentinel: so close to being good

Now I want to be clear I don’t feel like we needed another sniper rifle before a new SMG or LMG but we got one so what’s done is done.

The Sentinel sniper rifle is such a gratifying weapon to use, but it’s not that great. The recent buff made it so close to being the weapon it should be but it’s just shy of the balanced mark. I know many people will argue this point but hear me out.

the Sentinel is a finesse weapon. Like the PK or the Kraber. You want big damage hits at the cost of a slower fire rate. I think the fire rate is perfect where it’s at. I think the damage is where it’s lacking. Obviously you don’t want to make it too strong or it’s just another Kraber....which it basically is a baby Kraber (unbothered reason I think this was a redundant weapon to even make) but I digress. I think 80 damage a shot would put this weapon at the ferret sweet spot. Just enough to be far enough ahead of LB damage but not too much. 

Now the disruptor round feature. This is stupid on so many levels. Especially with the change you just made to inventory. A shield battery is so valuable. Even sitting at 70 damage a hit your rendering disruptor rounds pointless. If someone has blue shields your getting extra 5 damage at the cost of a battery. At best your doing an extra 30. Still not worth it. Instead of a disruptor round why not just boost the base damage of every shot by a flat 30 damage (at the cost of a battery) that way no matter what shield they have you get the extra damage you would get if they had a purple or gold shield.

  • I like sniping, but I'm really struggling with the Sentinel,  the feeling is off. Sometimes it's like there's a lag between puling the trigger and the weapon actually shooting. Other times it feels like the weapon is twiching when I fire. The bullet drop seems too big for such a high velocity. The big scopes don't feel accurate, I miss a lot of mid-high distance targets by shooting too high or too low, even though the scope dot is right where it should be. Lag affects this rifle a lot, as you can't adjust aim while shooting due to the huge reload time. Shield batteries are simply not worth using with this weapon since the inventory changes.

    What nonsense is this? Lmao.

    Triple take can headshot potentially 138 damage, with 78 to the body.

    It can basically be used as a shotgun at close range.

    It has superior bullet drop range.

    It has a good fire rate for a sniper( charge shots ommited)

  • @DoYaSeeMe I felt this way before the latest patch but now I’m actually really enjoying using it and will pick it up whenever I see one . Scopes definitely feel a little off on it still and drop is hard to judge past about 250m , but can still wreck people if you got the time to line up shots . As for using batteries , I don’t bother unless I have 4 or more in my inventory because it just feels like a waste . Would be nice if you could load up shield cells for one disruptor shot at a time ..

    But the gold sentinel is where it’s at, absolute beast of a weapon. I normally hate the gold sniper scope but on the sentinel you can hit almost every shot with such ease .

    @rickyressel I wasn't trying to be hostile, I'm here like everyone else to just try and help others and I like your ideas but they go a bit far into the OP side and thus I come to make it less OP or try to let you know.

    As said before, not hostile at all.

    We have about 4-5 snipers in the game, 1 shouldn't be more better than the others. They all have their areas which they are good at and reward players who play on that field.

    Sentinal has it's instant shield wipe abilities to stop a team from rushing or so you can down an enemy instantly if you catch them by surprise.
