Serious Question

I've been playing mix tape on and off.

Every single game.  Totally mismatched.   I quit the last one in deathmatch.  11 kills to 33.  Totally one sided.  Again.  The penalty doesn't matter because I quit to play something else (Elder Scrolls Online).  I don't get it.  Please fix match making. So tired of this.

So

1) Why penalise me for a totally mis matched game where we just get crushed.  How am I the bad guy who should get punished?  What is my incentive to stick around to just be free kills to miles better players than me?  Sell it to me.

2) What's with the new mode with the OP sword.  I get some people like it and that's cool.  Make it a LTM mode that is a seperate option rather than making trios forced to play it.  I don't get it.  How is making a weapon that can do a squad wipe in 6 seconds a good idea?  If people want to play it great, no problems. Why force me to?

Aside, in future I'll just put down controller and do something else for awhile when it's a 2 or 3 to 1 totally mismatched game.  Hopefully others do the same so you get the message.  I'm just frustrated that our side is totally smashed over and over in mixtape.

  • Mixtape:

I agree that there is more variety (regarding skill) in Mixtape, but there still 100% is matchmaking ratings in mixtape. My mixtape matches are typically (like 80% of the time) comprised of all 4k 20 bomb players. This is super easy to confirm because you can consistently assess your killers stats.

So please know that at any given time, you are being protected from the top players. If that’s not enough and you are committed to experiencing a “close match” every single game, then I would respectfully recommend you play single player games (where the difficulty is easily manipulated). To be fair, there are “blow outs” or ”shut outs” in casual AND professional activities/sports.

    As for the new event:

Its a breath of fresh air and thankfully its not the only playable mode. If you want to avoid it, then duos and ranked is still available. They probably didn’t make it an entirely separate mode because they didn’t want to split the playerbase— which would impact queue times even more (I’m already waiting 3-5 minutes for a game).

I get what you are saying.  My experience is that it is totally one sided most of the time.

As for the sword mode that's fine.  You think it's great that is fantastic.  i'm not saying getting rid of it.  Just don't force it into trios so you *HAVE* to play it.  I've not touched trios since I was squad wiped 2 games in a row with somebody with it.  Not sure how that's fun or balanced but to each their own.  Not sure why that is an issue, my suggestion is totally reasonable and in line with most other LTM.  I won't touch trios as long as it's there.

This used to be my favourite game.  But in the last week or two I find myself playing other games more.  I don't enjoy it anymore.  Played a session of duos for 90 mins.  Didn't win a single 1 on 1.  We were wiped every encounter.  Skill issue?  I'm a season zero player and I find it hard to believe I'm suddenly crap.  I don't know what is going on... totally unbalanced event weapons... magically becoming useless overnight.  But it's not much fun getting destroyed over and over and I am not sure what I can do about it.  The solution seems to be just to go and play something else that's fun.

As for your "wait time" argument I don't buy it.  They have done many LTM that are a separate option that doesn't touch duos and trios... why is this one different?  Why is it suddenly an issue now when it wasn't in the past?  End result, for me, is you have one less player now as I won't touch it.  I doubt I'm the only one.

Oh, I do. Been doing that ever since they introduced the penalty. And after they introduced PC players into console Mixtape, I feel like I just sit afc more than I'm actually playing as most of the time I refuse to play with them. Sometimes I give it a go, then I realise I got the two i386'ers on my team, other times I get killed by some cheating Octane, and then I'm done again.

And for #2, hard agree. Been complaining about these takeovers by modes that I have no interest in playing and that I find boring, ever since they did it the first time years ago.

@CCbathwater Yeah that's a separate issue I didn't bring up (PC players in console lobbies).  That's a real problem too and makes it unbalanced.  Again, solution is to quit and eat penalty (I don't care, I'll just play something else) or put controller down and wander away as there is literally no point in getting smashed for the next 5-10 minutes.  I don't get the penalty.  It's like we are supposed to be totally fine with being continuous fodder/free kills.  No thanks.

I don't mind them introducing different modes as I think it's healthy.  I just don't care for this one as getting squad wiped in 6 seconds with some stupid weapon is ridiculous.  Others want to play it, great.  Why ruin trios and force us?  Just make it a LTM people can select and leave them to it; go for it.

I am genuinely surprised at introducing a totally unbalanced weapon that spoils the game and putting it in the game such that it basically forces you to put up with it.  That's a whole lot of "nope" and ain't going to happen.

@Axs5626Sxa5001 I have to agree with him that the match making is broken in this mode .
I don't play mixtape but whenever I do it's completely unfair , boring and I can say disgusting.
it's amazing how the MM just simply can not balance sides .
it gather one type of players on one side and other completely different level of players on the other side instead of mixing them which is a very basic process and common sense

I agree with everyone who said, in essence, not every match will be what we think of as "fair and balanced."

That said, you absolutely nailed it with:

"Why penalise me for a totally mis matched game where we just get crushed. How am I the bad guy who should get punished? What is my incentive to stick around to just be free kills to miles better players than me? Sell it to me."

The idea that devs can author a game with a skill gap so wide that anything less than perfect matchmaking will result in "11 to 33" and that we will all just go along for the ride and be grateful for the opportunity... is ridiculous. I was saying the exact same thing 20 years ago with Halo. Nothing has changed since. Change the title, change the developer, change the decade, it's all the same crap happening over and over again. This is why I've grown to hate first person team-based multiplayer shooters. I keep putting up with them because I like "shooter" while hating "team-based" and "multiplayer" in equal measure. Yet here I still am. Here still are we all. I wish the news was better, but so far not.

@reconzero Well said. I've been playing a lot of the finals lately and guess what- The MM is brutal in that too. All kinds of people who don't know what they are doing or how to play the game.

The other thing to remember is some people aren't playing mixtape games to win the game. Some are just doing challenges or goof off.

Yeah, just logged into mixtape to try and work on some weapons objectives.

Control - locked out and lost before we hit 20%

    Deathmatch - loss 27/50 and 23/50

I give up.  Smashed every single game.  hit start, cancelled and picked ranked and hit start again.  Didn't note my cancel and put me in gun run.  I just quit, ate the penalty and shut down the playstation.  So frustrated.  I've had enough.
