Server tick rate, worst of all top Battle Royals

Here is your problem Respawn.  All spelled out for you.  Your game is coming up on a year really soon and not much has been done to fix it.

APEX currently holds the lowest tick rate out of the 3 big BR games with fortnite at 30 and pubg at 60.

This is also entangled with a poor netcode leading to inaccurate hit and movement registration. This is especially disappointing considering the extremely modern movement of apex, which I consider to be the best out there right now matching games of the like of mirrors edge. It’s a damn shame as the amazing movement of the game literally cannot be registered by the games own servers leading to but not limited to the following

-something like a .5 to 1 second delay between what you see on your screen and the registration of such info to the server

-getting shot around corners even though you clearly made it around the corner in time

-missing shots clearly perfectly placed on an enemies headshot hit box, this becomes further exaggerated at longer distances, or extremely short distances

-inaccurate representation of the skilled community, not saying the top of the top players are bad players persay but even a game like csgo with a tick rate of 60 does not convey the real top players at the game until you hop onto 120 tick esea, faceit, or cevo servers. Global elite (the highest csgo rank) is still considered garbage by the highest of the private server tiers (side note: 60 tick would be perfect for apex csgo runs on a much older engine which is why many consider 120 tick to be the only true playable skilled mode)

-bullets going through an enemy, visually observable at times.

-bullets hitting an enemy but dealing no damage, but giving you a hit marker anyways, this becomes virtually impossible the higher in tickrate and server efficiency (on 60 tick csgo servers this is displayed as blood shooting from an enemy onto the wall even though you dealt 0 damage)

-extreme punish for spikes in latency. This could be your internet’s fault or the servers themselves as they have been monitored on many occasions to drop well below the 20 tick rate

-extreme punish for moderate to high latency. This makes those of us less fortunate with wifi or some boof internet play at an extreme disadvantage that many would consider frustrating or unplayable. It is still possible but you will experience the issues of low tick rate at a much higher interval over a low ping player

-extreme peakers advantage, this is by far the biggest issue related to the low tickrate. Since your screen is about .5-1 second ahead of what is registered to the server, turning a corner onto an enemy gives you that amount of time to get shots of before the enemy even registers that your on their screen. Back to csgo as an example this is highlighted on valve servers as being killed by a one tap or awp shot before you even see an enemy on your screen. is it hard to do and rewarding? Yes. Is it also just a bug? Yup.

I did the math and found that in 5 minutes, on a 20 tickrate server, 6000 ticks are registered by the server. On 60, 18000 ticks are registered (real hard math I know). Over the course of an entire game (~20min), 24,000 ticks are registered on 20 tick and 72,000 ticks are registered on 60 tick. This means a difference of 48,000 ticks! that’s 2 entire games of ticks on the current server not calculated at all!

To summarize this entire post in one sentence, Your movement, gunplay, and accuracy is 300% more accurate on a 60 tick server.

    I don't know how many times bullets didn't register or I got shot behind cover   so frustrating didn't play the game for days 

    At least now we know why

    @RP_Options There are a lot of posts on reddit about this weekly. A lot of informative posts of verified and known issues by the FPSer gaming community. Dev's like Respawn can't ignore these issues in this day and age. Apex's netcode would be an embarrassment by 2008 standards! That is over 10 years old. Think about how unacceptable that is. It is like they are treating us like idiots by letting it be this bad for what will be a year since release without improvements. The popularity on Twitch at launch was huge and it plummeted once these issues became analyzed and known. Imagine if a game had this kind of formula BR with good netcode?! Just a slow death is what is happening.

    This is the reason this will be the last season I complete. Then I am quitting until they fix everything about the netcode.
