Show Apex some love... what do you love?

We like to * and moan when we don't like something, in this case (usually) Apex related.  And FIFA.  Apparantly.

I'm guilty of this too.

If people are happy they usually don't say too much because, well, why would they?

I love this game.  The match making drives me nuts, some fo the stuff I see in game that seems impossible drives me nuts yet I keep coming back (as does everyone else here who is a serial-moaner).

Overall I think the good outweighs the bad.

Maybe a new thread in this discussion.  Things you *love* about Apex.  I'll start:

  1. The dynamic nature of the game, every game is unique
  2. Learning from playing.  I got suckered big time last night against final squad.  They played me for a total tool and I fell for it.  Lesson learned and a bit in awe.
  3. People.  This may come as a surprise.  It's far easier to complain about the toxic * you encounter in this game (or any online game) as there are plenty of people out there who seem to have the only goal of making it suck as much as they can for you.  I have, however, played with some amazing people who are patient with me and amazing team mates and for that I am grateful (such as @maximas1986  as he is *well* above my ability/pay grade).  It's exciting to check to see which of your friends are online to hook up with.  One day I'll be cool enough to play with @hayhor or @Cheese9Man.
  4. Variety.  We have 3 maps and more and more legends/POI/weapons/etc.  Now and then the game forces me to run with an unusual loadout and it's most satisfying to get the squad wipe with a 3030 as that's all you've got.  Note.  Not recommended, lol.

Anyone else want to add to the love?

    @EdwardDLuffyTotally agree.

It's those amazing moments you, all too rarely, get in the game.

Had 2 last night. Working on my sniper game (yes, most people don't bother with these). One was final 2 squad battle. Valkarye in distance running from team mate flying through air, 350+ yard shot with sentinel for the winning kill. That was lucky but an amazing experience.

Second later in evening (sniper again) watching a fight go on from range. Loba goes to do her finishing move on another player and popped her with a headshot from range and she goes straight to box.

It's the little moments when you come through in a clutch, have an amazing shot or just wonder how the **** you are still alive as you are B-lining it out of the area through multiple battles with your teammates banners.

Did the banner thing a couple of weeks ago in Estates that my brother likened to the scene in star wars where CP30 and R2D2 walked through a blazing gunfight unscathed at the beginning of the film.  Just like that.  "How the *** are you still alive?".  lol.  We've had some really good laughs at a few things.

    That's what it's all about isn't it?

  • @RockDokRock Rampart's thick body /s

the things that brought me into this game were

    1. movement.
    2. apex lore
    3. Rampart
    4. Teamwork (when you get matched with good people)

This game literally had everything I love about Apex:

'Carrying' a team, good teamwork and a newb (Rampart) who only left my side when she went to get BH out of the ring. BH was on about 100 damage too until he found the final player hinding under a bridge and offed him. Rampart contributed a lot more than her stats suggest as she was forever putting up amp shields in front of me. We only encountered four squads all game - a duo on drop (I got both) then another duo at one of the new areas on KC. This is where BH was nipped by the ring (painful) as he stayed too long looting the DBs. Rampart went back to get him and he just survived, helped by me chucking heat-shields as far into the ring as I could.

We ended up in a tight four-way battle in that valley. I got a Pathy up close, then two-shot a solo Valk with a Longbow (at which point the Rampart exclaimed "are you some kind of god?") from the other side of the valley. This left us with only one enemy remaining, and BH scanned and found him. Good times for all!

  • @RedmattgameYou said exactly that what I wanted to say, well written post!
+ I also have fun IF I have a good team and EVEN when we lose it's no big deal because we sticked together as a group (which is really rare sometimes) so I had fun unlike those toxic rounds where EVEN if I win I don't write gg like yesterday where an idiot yelled RES LIFELINE (at the endgame) meanwhile I was getting attacked from 2 sides (+ I was a bit far from my team bc of it) and tried to survive here. *facepalm*

@Cheese9ManI appreciate your post and agree 100% with all what you've said 🙂

  • Maybe it's a good time to re-visit some love for the game... anyone else want to add to this what they like?  Alot has changed in 4 years and I'd say mostly for the good.

Oh, how I want to say something nice. And I'm not even saying that by way of an introduction to some anti-Respawn rant. Though that would be easy enough to do.

But the long and short is that no matter the developer's shortcomings, or the game's shortcomings, or the player-base's shortcomings (and they are innumerable on every count), the thing that leaves me most disappointed in the game... is me. I don't love multiplayer games. So why am I here? I don't love team-based anything. So why am I here? I don't love the core mechanics of modern shooters. So why am I here? In every case it's because I came to gaming through shooters and I can't let go of them despite the fact that 25 years of familiarity has bred an astonishing amount of contempt. I don't belong here, but I don't know where else there is to be. So here I stay. And the contempt grows with each passing day. And it's all justified. We all know the litany of problems. If I know the problems this well and I still choose to stay then that's pretty much a "me" problem, not a Respawn problem. They keep asking me after matches, "Did you enjoy this match?" And the answer is always, "No." But I know well enough that they're not really interested in whether or how often people say yes or no. They're interested in how often the people who say no immediately re-queue or log off. And I'm sad to say that my incoherent response to an unsatisfactory experience is to continue doing the exact same thing in the exact same way and hoping for a completely different outcome. I always re-queue. Yes, there's a word for people who behave this way. No, it isn't a flattering word.

I guess that's the real deal right there. The game isn't bad or good, or successful or failing, or even sometimes fun and sometimes not fun. It's a mirror. Hold it up and you're gonna see something. Maybe you'll like what you see, maybe not. But in the end what you're seeing is mostly just you. And what I see is somebody who's dug in like a tick with a grim determination to get something back out of the game I've put so much into. Tenacity or compulsion? Maybe they're just two different words for the same thing.

And there it is. There's the nice thing I can say about the game in its current state: it's made me tenacious. Yeah, I'll go with that.
