So I got a permabanned for being "Toxic." I wonder do these guys even play games

So, I have been permabanned due to a bit of heated argument with another player which is normal in any game. Tell me which game has never had a heated argument before? The funny thing is. I got PERM BANNED for the whole account over 1 game and 1 in-match game.

For crying out loud, it wasn't even like I hacked or exploited the game in any way for me to deserve a permaban on my account. It was just a bit of heated spur of the moment with another player. EA is the company that creates games that causes competitiveness and heated arguments. If I am getting permabanned for Apex Legends, you guys must be busy banning people left, right and centre in FIFA. It is ridiculous and no one on your advisor team is doing anything about it. What is the point of even going against my ban or anyone bans when 99% it is never revoked (check your forums) No one is empathetic, in fact, any members of your "advisor" team even play your games? Because if they do, they would be more empathetic and understand these heated arguments happen.

But nope, they see one red flag word and then presses that magic button. Even the Live chat guys are more empathetic and understanding than the actual "advisor" team.

This is ridiculous EA. Nice way to get people to play your games again.

  • @err0r710 See, now this is a nice reply. It would've been good to have this attitude in the game. I know it's too late now, but if the other guy was insulting you, you should've just reported him and let him be in the situation you're in now.

Unfortunately, I can't say "I think you should unban this guy," because I don't know exactly what you said. Some things are just too huge, of which losing your account is minor compared to being fired from your job, for example.

At the very least, I just wanted to say I appreciated your tone in this response. It was very professional.

Also, did you lose access completely to your games, or just online multiplayer?
  • Sorry, but I feel like some aren't understanding the point here. If what he's saying is true, he was suspended from the whole EA-Library. He could have spent a few hundred bucks on various games and lost them in an instant. Imagine punching someone in the heat of the moment and then being banned from all social interactions altogether as punishment. Yeah, if he punches one person, he could punch everyone else. I more so sense a huge chunk of malicious joy coming off from some people.

I don't have mic so I never had heated argument 🙂

Well, if somebody else start yelling, we have some options:

    1. Muted them,

    2. Record and report.

    3. Simply quit the game

    4. Shut down the game/console.

    That's it. Easy peasy.

  • @err0r710  As far as i'm aware EA have taken a strong stand with regards to toxic behaviour on their games, which is all to do with something called "positive play charter".

    I'm not privy to the inner workings and how they decide how severely to punish offenders of course, however generally speaking its usually either;

    A) An accumulation of offenses, leading to more severe bans each time.

    B) straight to more severe bans if they offense was particularly bad.

Now i guess none of this really helps you, and honestly I doubt EA will upturn said ban as they seem to feel justified. I would personally say a hardban across all titles is somewhat harsh though, especially if this is your first offence.

All i can suggest is you exercise more caution with player interactions when playing other games in future...you're always going to run into idiots online and they just ain't worth the energy lol. x.x

    Hey @err0r710,

It's definitely understandable that heated arguments can happen, I think just about anyone who's played online has witnessed that at some point or another.

When those heated arguments cross the line and inappropriate speech starts getting thrown around however, then it becomes an issue. Our Terms of Service team will review the chat, as they've done here, but if the reported chat was inappropriate than no, the suspension or ban would not be revoked.

A permaban typically means the behavior was either particularly egregious or the account has had multiple chances to stop the behavior without heeding the prior warnings and/or suspensions.

To be clear, this all holds true whether the reports I'm seeing here were from FIFA21 and Apex or any of our other games, and that language continues to be just as inappropriate today as it was a year ago. Our TOS team looks at the prior history of an account as well, so if after reviewing the prior actions they've decided not to remove a ban, I'm afraid we won't be able to address it further on the forums either.

Arguments happen from time to time. That's normal and in my opinion completely natural. But we have to remember: We are dealing with words. The least of my concerns in online games. There are players who completely ruin a match for players by doing the exact opposite of team play. This is one of the reasons why I'm strictly playing no-fill. I find that a greater offense than language used, and still not worthy a permanent suspension.

Some players are a little more prone to being poked at. I just had this happen a small while ago where I pointed out that someone apparently doesn't want to stick to the group and instead make us lose the match in a sarcastic manner. He responded with all sorts of screaming, yelling and insulting. So what? I just didn't listen and moved on. No need for a report. Especially now I may reconsider reporting people because - while I do want them to potentially suffer a punishment - I don't want them to be completely removed from the game. If I ever catch wind that one of my reports has caused a permanent suspension of some random individual, I'm never going to forgive myself for that.

You don't encourage positive play by blocking out any negativity with a mighty hammer. You're controlling it with force. You remove anyone who has done an offense and strike fear into others who catch wind of it. I for one have decided for now to just leave my hands off the Voice Chat and chat in general, because I don't want to come across people who are very volatile and immediately hit the report button at the smallest offense or sarcasm I put out. I do have quite some value in my account. It may harm my communication with my teams, but in a grand perspective yields higher security for me.
