I'm sure Respawn is very well aware of the competition. Some of the devs even worked at the competitors, so they know how they operate, what are their limitations, their strengths, etc..As for the future content of Apex, I'm not worried, Respawn has much more freedom because the game is set in a futuristic universe, revolving around the unique personalities and stories of the legends. CoD is more of a realistic military simulation, it can't get too creative.
- 6 years ago@DoYaSeeMe Not exactly. Yes alot of the top brass formed Respawn, but most of those left and the middle brass is left. Despite that, they know the strength & limitations of their former colleagues from years ago. Not how they are now. Alot changes in multiple years of time within an individual and definitely in a team or organisation. Other than that, you’re right. Cod can’t get too creative without letting go of their image. In mechanics that is... with settings/modes they can. Just look at zombie mode.
@iBlockHead you’ll see tomorrow. @DarthValtrex was the same. He doesn’t like learning new looting systems and if I’m correct didn’t really like Blackouts either. I never have a problem learning new ones. Despite that, I always had a bowie knife :P I love stabbing victims... xD. Loved commando pro in MW2 and loved slicing ppl in blackout and securing wins with it :P
YOU WANNA 1V1 ME IN SPELLBREAK PUNK?! You making fun of magic?! Luckily it’s not a re-skin. I tried Cuisine Royale because I read that it was unique due to the weapons and armor. Wow that was a reskin of PUBG if I ever saw one. Right down to the bugs XD.
Spellbreak is unique since, as far as Iknow, it’s the only BR that only relies upon magic + has an RPG element to the game. And it requires skill, fastness and thinking. It wasn’t intended to be a non-pc game and it shows with the huge jumps and intricate systems so playing it on consoles will make it even more difficult (so more fun for me).

Not gonna lie, it's pretty good. Some server and sound issues exist but as a mode it's pretty sweet. The Gulag is cool, in game objectives is cool, armor is fair and balanced, guns don't feel OP, Snipers feel and act like Snipers, Shotguns feel a little on the weak side but meh. Im going to spend some time away from playing Apex. Perhaps if Respawns dishes out solos and duos, I'll come back quicker.

While I agree with all your points here. They only discuss game design. But... after playing it today, I gotta conclude that the fun factor of the game goes into the negatives.
If you think random "teammates" in apex are horrible and useless, Warzone is going to take that to a whole new level.
It's a repetitive process of drop, loot, die in less than a second to a whole firing squad, and then you can win the gulag fight to repeat that process again.
It's completely unplayable unless you have 2 experienced and dedicated friends who are into tactical shooters. I.e. be Shroud or be cannon fodder.

I agree with what your saying the respawn system needs major work as for the gulag system that isnt a repeat you only get the gulag once per game if you use it early you dont get another gulag chance you have to wait to be respawned which cant take an absolute age because of the cost and how difficult it is to find plunder unless you kill enemy's which is extremely difficult when you respawn with a pistol and there geared up.. as for game play its alot more tactical and yes you would needs friends to get the best out of the experience but it wont be any different to randoms in apex.. also Activision have already stated that solos and duos will be added once the player base is steady.. which is understandable warzone is an extremely fun game played completely different to apex unfortunately the respawning is a problem for me personally but because theres more content and stuff to do and get rewards you can or will actually use unlike well apex.. I've always wanted a wattson quip or that 45th PK skin because every BP and event has a PK skin in it.. apex is a good game run by greedy devs and EA anything that's 'Cool' or nice goes into a paywall event which I'm not bothered about but prices are disgusting and they dont even let you grind for like 1 or Event 2 packs and how difficult getting crafting materials is 2400 is 2 season BP rewards... I will play apex but not as much as I did props just to have a break from warzone now and again apex is so stale its untrue

I'm trying Warzone as well, but so far it's nothing like Apex. I'd worry more about Warzone getting stale quickly than Apex dying.
- 6 years ago@DoYaSeeMe So I’ve played warzone roughly for 2-4 hours I think...
My opinion hasn’t changed that your comment about it getting stale will definitely happen if they dont put warzone specific goals to complete. Now it’s just kill, evade and try to win.
This nets you weapon/player/battle pass XP. That’s it. You have ‘challenges’ to complete, but those only give you banner signs or profile pics (as far as I’ve seen... maybe charms as well but who cares about that). So it doesn’t have an actual incentive to play, except feeling of superiority by way of winning.
I just gotten my first win with a buddy (jeez the last guy always sucked...). Got good XP but other than that it felt shallow. Fun that I got my first win, frankly I thought it’d take longer, but not much satisfaction.
Despite that, the killing is fun xD. And I know they’re gonna do a ‘story’ within this game mode so I’m kind of intruiged about what they are gonna do.- 6 years ago
Warzone is pretty fun, I played the CODMw Reboot beta / demo and didn't like the way the game felt.
Now that I played about a few hrs of Warzone the game wouldn't replace Apex legends for me it be a good game to play in between seasons. Warzone seasons are very short it seems like. I'm Not really a fan of it. Have too see what happens down the road a bit see if this changes at all.
The Gulag is fun it just feels cheap to have your deaths count in the gulag in your overall stat. It reminds me a lot of titanfall 2 Colosseum. In Warzone though when you knocked someone if you don't finish them off and your teammate does they get the kill which is another cheap thing. At least Enemies don't have a knockdown shield 🙂
It's funny to me that people rather play COD warzone then apex because apex doesn't have Solo's and Duo's well either does COD Warzone but you rather play that. There still Audio issues and weird lag that happens same as Apex. I guess your flavor of the month player will alway gravitate to the "next best game" and hold it up to high praise. lol
IMO Both games are fun in their own right, For me Apex is more challenging to eliminate a squad compared to COD warzone.
