@reconzero I said before the season the Evo changes could produce more hot dropping. Why? Because now you can drop without worry the other guy is going to get lucky and find a purple.
I'm loving the changes myself but I've only played the ltm where I get a guaranteed 3v3 to start. I have not found it hard to get to purple with only half the teams in the game
Passive players need to find stuff to upgrade their armor. Evo caches are marked on the map. If playing certain characters you can just land on spots that have their bins or their consoles. Heck if playing pathfinder just find and Evo cache, pick your blue ability based on what console is nearby and then go scan with it.

LTM? This season started with an LTM? I really need to get out from underneath my BR pubs rock....

This is a viable meta, but it's a little more luck-dependent than previous seasons where gunplay OR a crafter OR luck with ground loot could net you the shield you needed, and do it with a lot less risk and a lot less time than you need now. The new system makes me, who was already engagement averse, even less interested in an early-game or even mid-game tussle. And the odds of getting to final five with inadequate gear are higher. In my case it doesn't lead to garbage fights, it just leads to quitting, and while I'm sort of okay with that, I might get less okay with it if it persists in being too high a percentage of matches over the course of the whole season. And what kind of message does that send to less experienced squadmates who don't understand why I bail, they just know they had two squadmates and suddenly for no apparent reason they now have only one? Personally I feel that's the dev's problem more than it is mine. All I'm doing is looking at the achievability of the objective and applying common sense and experience to make a go-no-go decision. If they make it too hard to attain then what's a player supposed to do? Not sure if I mean that rhetorically or not. I can see several different answers to the question, but I'm putting them all on hold for now until I have a better sense of how these new mechanics will play out over the course of the season.

- hayhor2 years agoHero@reconzero I think the big difference if going solo is not being able to find a blue or purple shield if you land in an area by yourself? There was never any guarantee you would find one or have a crafter to go from white to blue.
Once the ltm is done I plan to try some no fill games to see how hard it really is.- HappyHourSumwur2 years agoSeasoned Ace@hayhor Winning a 1v1 won't get you blue shields now and it did before. Opening a special loot bin (+100 evo) plus hitting the evo harvester (+350 evo) will do it though.
