Do you guys seriously still think this game is about skill? I guess you can pretend it is.
Land, find no weapon. Or, land and find a P2020 but can't find ammo. Or land find nothing, search frantically, find a hemlock and no ammo.
Or, find a little bit of everything. Get into your first battle and because Apex only gave you 2 stacks of light ammo, you run out real quick and you're dead again. Meanwhile, the squad you're up against has purple shields and helmets and a lifetime supply of the exact ammo for all the weapons they have. Yeah. Ok. totally a skill-based game. Keep believing it. Call yourself Apex legends.
@Foofer37 If you're hot-dropping all the time, then yes, I believe a lot of luck is involved. But if strategically drop where there's less traffic you should have enough time to loot up for the first fight. Yes, there's those situations where the one other team that lands with you were lucky and obtained better shields, guns, etc. and pushes you into a fight where you're at a huge disadvantage. But it the long run you receive the luck just as much as the other team and it balances out. And if you do land somewhere and don't obtain enough loot where you think you can engage in a fair fight, then continue looting and avoid other teams. I understand a team can roll up on you at any time, but I believe this is fairly controllable, especially early game. 1. Pay attention to where other people around you are dropping. 2. Identify their likely rotation related to the next circle. 3. Listen for gunshots. I know for me, if I don't feel I'm looted appropriately, or those random times where you're solo in 3's, I can pretty much avoid my way into a top 5 (at least) situation, and by then I have plenty of loot.
Also, as a guy who has many times landed on a great shield/gun/plenty of ammo and died to some dude with a Mozam-weak and white shield, I can attest skill (or lack thereof) has something to do with the outcome of this game.
I hear you guys, but I get very little to no luck. Sure, there are times when I get a break, grab a couple kills etc. But soooooo often, it really seems that my account is just cursed 🙂
A couple times I managed to kill a couple guys and they had like fully kitted r-99's or hemlocks or whatever. And we're like 2 minutes into the match. And I'm like, how in the world do these guys always get this stuff. I never find good weapons. Another thing I see alot is guys squading together. My team and I get smoked in 3 seconds and here are like 4-5 guys standing around us looting. C'mon with this stuff 🙂
