I like the in-depth look and analysis, it gives you a better idea of what's going on. Some things said though do not match with what i've experienced in Apex until today and i disagree with some other choices they've made this far.
For example, a Platinum player can be in a Predators lobby if he's having a win streak? Is that correct?
- @Cro_Pittt I read the ranked comment that way, which I think is a bad change. The reason it happens now is speed of MM is too high a priority for the preds.
@Cro_PitttThat’s also how i’m reading it, which means if I perform well, i’ll be matched against preds, all the while having two ball in chain teammates.
How did they think this would be a winning formula is beyond me, maybe because they assume everyone would play as a premade?

Matches the last few days have been absolutely horrible. Yesterday, I got melted instantaneously 3 out of 4 matches. Then I had a match where I got hard carried to a W by a guy I had no business being in the same lobby with. He had 10 kills and about 2,500 damage in a lobby where I got my head shot off every time I peaked even a little and aped by 3 stacks repeatedly.
"Okay. So lets draw some cool graphs to a long blog post about how we have been testing "matchmaking changes". We will of course say something oblivious like "everyone gets more kills" to get the playerbase active again. Get some returning players who had already given up on Apex. We make some promises how things are going to change. It will probably take them about a month or two to notice how nothing actually changed and then these returning players quit and system is left with only too big skill level separates. So what we are gonna do now is try to keep those try hards so we put these super sweats in the same pubs team to keep them happy. Noobs and losers will of course be put randomly to other teams in that lobby. Now you ask how are we going to keep those below average players. Well somebody has to play the mixtape so it doesnt end up like arenas. So after they get grinded to shreds they will go play some mixtape where we will put them on a team with 12v6 advantage. This win will certainly make their day and have them coming again tomorrow."
Has anyone actually seen any code or datamining stuff on this so called matchmaking update??
- @Cro_Pittt man after 10 matches it places me in silver 3, and tonight i played 6 matches and every time was killed by at least current plat2+ players, diamond and once master. Where is logic there??? This new MM is def the worst so far. It is good for skilled players, but for a regular Joe it is nightmare.
@gokuzmajCurrent ranks do not matter, so just don’t worry about them and especially don’t take them as any indicator if the person can play.
The matchmaking is okayish, there will allways someone be at the receiving end. That’s nothing respawn can fix.
Also I do by now believe that a higher chunk of mmr comes from placements, meaning if you hit top 10 a lot you mostlikely will get a high mmr where you shouldn’t be- @matzesingt I've been saying for a long time that even in pubs, top 5s had a huge affect on the MM so that wouldn't surprise me in ranked. It is why people that do not fight in pubs until the end usually run into some really good team and get stomped.
