@VdstrkMastif is garbage tier now. Before the nerf it used to be decent. PK is balanced I think. Eva-8 is still the king. You should never pick a mastif now over eva-8 or PK. Between PK and eva-8, it depends which one you like more. The way the shotguns are done in this game is overall pretty bad. How I would do it is give them consistent dmg rather then pellet dmg and make them really strong 0-10 meters as in 2-4 shots to kill, but really bad damge as the distance increases to the point they do no dmg at all at like 25+ m meters.
I think mastif was relatively fine before the nerf, it was an rng gun,I would get 110-120 1 shot dmg with it and the next time it would be 12 12 20, so in the end it was balancing out somewhat. Now however it is worthless.- Mastiff was absolutely broken, and everyone who was skilled enough know this. It was * a whole squad, and the damage is still high, but now you actually need a bit of skill to using it, and landing the full power, not spam mindlessly with it. And with Mastiff you can easy take a trying to run target from you, unlike with Eva8, who has no range at all. - Shotguns in every single game is a super easy to use, and super powerful. They are created so casual doesn`t have to preciously aim, and have a chance against better player. - PK has always been OP, in its entire existent. I got no problem being back at the loot, but they should not have buffed the spread/range of it. - As far as the damage goes i won`t mind if it need just 2 hit to kill(you can still do this with PK now), but the spread/range of the shots should be way way lower, so you actually need a good aim to land your shots, and give the enemy a chance to counter it with a good strafing pattern. - Shotgun range should not be higher than 0-20 meter, everything above this should do from 0-10 damage. But atm both PK and Mastiff do crazy amount of damage for shotgun in a even higher ranger than this. - The easiest way to balance PK is to just the reduce the radius of its shots.
- Agree with the range, It feels odd to hit people for 40 - 60 (3 shots to kill) from a significant distance with a shotgun.
- Yeah i can`t count to that much time i have been taken down on low hp, and trying to disengage on a 30+ meter distance with a Mastiff. - And i almost all the time escape when the enemy player is trying to get me down with a tracking weapon like R99. - Like they said the last few shots are the hardest to land. :D Its easy to land your shots with a 15cm crosshair, compare to 1cm on a fast moving and changing direction pace game.
- @DoYaSeeMe mozambique is OP, pellet spread is too tight. ;p
- @ArchAngeL-PCX I agree. Now we have three balanced shotguns (maybe Mastiff is slightly weaker?). I tried using the PK and it's not OP at all, just like Eva. Two different options but similar in the end. - The only gun needing a slight nerf is the bow imo. The rest is just fine (from what i've seen for now).

PK should have been left in the supply drop.
- @Vdstrk Nah, it's been too much time in there. It was the right thing to put it on the ground. As you're seeing most of us don't find it op at all, instead it's balanced compared to the other shotguns. - And you should give it more time, the new season came out yesterday (not counting Tuesday as servers were down). Play it for a couple of weeks then come back and give your thoughts. It's too early to jump on conclusions.

- @VdstrkYou are confusing hardcore with pro / high level competitive. Casual games are those with a low skill ceiling. If Apex would be a casual game, you'd be able to beat Aceu, Shroud, ShivFPS, etc. like 50% of the time, even after only a few dozens of hours of playtime. - @MandatoryIDtag If regular 'bique is OP, what is there to say about the 1st of April 2020 Mozambique? 🙂
- Vdstrk5 years agoSeasoned AceHere Aceu criticized the peacekeeper, SBMM and explicitly says the game is for Casuals.... https://dotesports.com/apex-legends/news/nrg-aceu-apex-legends-interview
Nope. Personal skills is a thing. A casual game is another.
Games like the division 2, apex, and deep rock galactic are casual games.
In the division 2 there is a pvp mode, and aim timing for healing etc all matter. However, the game bridges the skill gap by introducing RNG on how likely a player is to find good loot. Nevertheless a better player in the division 2 will generally overcome a weaker player. That fact, that the more skilled player generally wins does not make a game competitive. It is still a casual game. So is Apex.
Apex does the exact same, when dropping in game a shotgun that can 1/2 shot you from a decent distance.
Every game is a function of skills --to a point. RNG is the negation of those skills along with artificial modifications such as shotguns that can 1/2 shot you.
Another factor that makes Apex a non competitive game is RNG.
Traditionally speaking competitive games have eliminated the RNG factor. CS:GO has no RNG, and accounting for spread patterns the RNG is minimal. Valorant follows CS:GO. Quake has 0 RNG --while followed and played only by hardcore (those who you call tryhards in Apex) players it is one of the most skillful competitive shooters --it does not even have weapon recoil. The revenant ult for example, It makes it so you have to kill a players 1 and 1/2 times basically. So much for bridging the gap.... and much more.
So, no --sorry. Apex is a casual game who cannot adapt to become a competitive game because it has terribly unbalanced 1/2 shots guns, poor netcode, runs on poor servers, it has issues with audio, etc etc. etc...
It is fun to play? Sure. Are there people that try to push it and make is seem "more" competitive than what it is, sure. Mostly those people make thousands on stream though.
