@hhnbbfggty66 No thanks, it's not even remotely accurate to how projectile guns function in real life or projectiles will function in regards to physics. All projectiles will drop due to gravity and energy loss from friction with air. That is unless they are assisted by some kind of propulsion system on the way to the target or purely energy based using light particles (charge rifle). There are no exceptions aside from the vacuum of space in area NO gravitational forces acting upon the projectile. In real life a charge rifle type of gun would still have problems of its own.
The .50 Cal is one of the heaviest hitting sniping guns on the market. If you shoot one at a target that's about 1000 yards out, you can expect the bullet to drop a little over 22 feet. 500 meters is about 550 yards, so the projectile from a .50 cal at 550 yards will drop about 12 feet. That does not even factor in drift from cross winds which you have to compensate for in real life, especially at those kind of distances.
The sniping scopes have range finders that make accounting for bullet drop easy and simple. If they eliminate or reduce bullet drop in snipers it will ruin the game IMO. That's saying a lot because I typically carry a sniping gun of some sort.
I also don't see the point to long range sniping guns in this game, even on WE. You constantly have to change locations. That means camping some place for long periods of time and looking for targets is not much of an option. Even if it was an option, looting is what makes the difference in this game, whether you achieve that by looting areas that have not been hit, or pushing fights. If you want to win you need to upgrade your guns, armor and loot for the final fight.
Sniping for the most part is just farming damage in this game. The longer the range the more true that statement becomes, simply because people can find cover and heal before you can land 2-3 shots to drop them.
From there the only way a long range sniper would be remotely effective. Would be for the gun to be a 1 shot to kill type of gun. Anything outside of that and your targets are going to find cover and repair while figuring out how to make an exit from the area and get away from you OR close the gap and kill you in a CQC fight.
I personally do not want 1 shot kill snipers in the game. It will ruin the game IMO. I don't need or want another a COD/BFV game in which you can't pop your head up any place without getting dropped by some camping sniper.
The Sentinels damage is fine, head shots are something like 130-140 damage, all snipers do about 130-140 damage a head shot. Which is more than enough to make them effective. The only change I would make to them would be for Sniper guns to stun their targets more so that you have slightly more time to fire off that 2 and third shot to kill the person.
