Thoughts on Power Balance in S31
My reaction to Seasons 31 and 32 is simple: "This is no good for this game why the devs are just moving around too drastic."
When I first saw Apex, I was genuinely amazed by its raw potential. While it certainly had its rough edges, I was convinced it would eventually evolve into a juggernaut capable of surpassing titles like Counter-Strike and Fortnite. However, as the updates have accumulated over time, I have arrived at a single conclusion: my expectations for the development team’s ability to balance the game were simply too high.
Looking back, the early days were defined by excessive nerfs that damaged the game’s balance, whereas recent updates have stacked buff upon buff, driving power creep completely out of control.
This situation can be compared to visiting a barber. If the customer asks to trim their sideburns because they've gotten a bit long, the barber comes back with a photo of a shaved head. When the customer protests that it's far too short, the barber then presents a photo of long, flowing hair. The more instructions given, the worse the outcome becomes. Perhaps the root cause is that the customer is simply asking too high of the barber.
I have reached a single conclusion after looking back at the past: please keep your hands off this game's power balance. Please don't try to artificially manipulate the meta or "improve" things beyond where they are—just keep changes to an absolute minimum. How many changes have actually turned out as intended so far? What percentage of the total does that represent?
I do'not say that you should do nothing. I am asking you to shift your mindset toward minimizing manual intervention as much as possible. If you fear boredom, please remember that there is still a vital mission: nsuring that both matchmaking and rules function smoothly as the core system of the game. This is not easy than say, and very important.
Ex, Please refrain from complex manual interventions to refine matchmaking. Matchmaking based strictly on RP is more than enough.
Ex,Keep the rules as simple as possible, completely stripping away room for interpretation or exceptions. Conversely, please continue your ongoing efforts in detecting and penalizing violators, just as you have successfully done so far.
This is my honest, heartfelt request as a player who deeply cares about the future of this game. Please do not try to change this game in one time, even with good intentions. What is needed to maximize the game's inherent potential is eliminating rule loopholes and making sure the system functions properly—not introducing flashy new elements or skills.
