Especially do not respond with slurs, insults, or queries about the same as that triggers the algorithm and then your ban.Here's the deal: EA outsources moderation to a company overseas whose employees do not read reports for context or meaning. All that matters is that you triggered the algorithm. So if you ask "why did you call me a ****?" that will trigger it. And out of caution, they will ban you for a day/week/month/permanently.Oh, they got it wrong? THEY DON'T CARE. It's a free game. They don't need you. You triggered the algorithm, and they don't have time to draw out your deeper meaning. This isn't Shakespeare.Be civil or be silent, and if your teammates rage at you, mute!

@Xubunnytwo Smart ones already do.Other than a few runs with @reconzero I never have voice even ON in this game (set incoming voice chat to zero and never have to remember to mute squad again) and only use text chat for the most basic of things I can't do thru pings (where BH go? disconnect? AFK? etc).If I am going to play a multiplayer game with other people (which is really only GW2 these days) it's all Discord all the Time so we are not at the mercy of their 'moderators'.

@NatusM Settings > Audio > Disable voice chat ^ This may be outdated, I do not have a PC to check with. Here's another option: Settings > Audio > Incoming voice chat volume > 0%

It is. I just go to the squad screen and hit then "mute player" button. Also, from the very beginning of legend selection, a single button press for "mute squad" is also present. Just had two teammates, in rank, watch my banner expire all the while looting boxes. “we don’t need a third”had to resist the urge.

@hayhor Happened first fight off the drop, teammate clutched the 2 vs 1, rez'd his buddy, watched me bleed out, loot, and only then did I open my mic to ask why....They actually finished 3rd, and before backing out, he goes 'if only we had a third'. This is in Plat 1, never seen such a toxic duo, it is what it is.

@NatusM some food for thought here. My friend has the other players on Speech to Text, because he laughs at how badly it translates what people are actually saying and it does come out very wrong all the time.

If this continues, players will have to start using Discord or something.

@NatusM I actually enjoy responding to people hating on me, I use it as an opportunity to question them, I don’t say anything bad, i just remain the calm text chat voice, which makes them more mad. For example, someone voice chatted that I was bad at the game, with some colorful language. I responded with how much more damage I had than them. They did not speak to me again.

That's nice and all, but I'm telling you that you run the risk of getting banned solely through what your toxic teammates do.
"Oh, you think I'm an [insert insult here]? That's hilarious!" may be enough.
Again, EA wants to keep its chat and games clean. They don't care if they ban the wrong player.

btw I've asked EA in vain and now I'm asking the Community: if you know how to mute incoming verbal chat, please post it here for all of us.
F4 only works until the game actually starts and players start dropping.

Well it's good of course not to respond to incoming toxicity, it will never really end well.
Though I believe it's to be expected not to repeat what someone has said, even if it's not intended to insult anyone in that context.
From the information I've received, there is a text filter, so sending "problematic" words can cause action being taken.
Try not to respond, if you really have to, stay calm and don't say any bad words at all.
