Coming from Rocket League to apex which is a few years older than Apex, I had to deal with no in game voice until about a month ago. I wouldn't call Apex voice terrible but it isn't as good as Discord. For me it works relativily well assuming the other person on my team has at least a somewhat decent mic. I am able to personally use it most of the time to hear my teammates. A few instances where they are quiet but most of the time it works well enough for me.
