WE is boring now

Drop to frag or spend the entire round looting bored out of your mind. Every single match I play it's down to 5-8 squads by the time ring 2 starts closing. If you drop any place but Frag you're lucky to bump into 1 squad before it's top 4.

Some options to deal with this, reduce the loot in Frag by 80%. Reduce the loot in frag to nothing but white attachments, armor, while increasing the appeal of dropping to other locations. Not matter how you look at it frag is were everyone goes.

This is all made worse by the addition of Evo shields. You either drop to frag to get red armor or die to those who manage to survive frag and get red armor, because you have next to 0 opportunity at pushing your Evo to red. That is unless you some how manage to collect 360 crafting materials, good luck doing that.

The map is so out of balance right now in terms of team spread it's sad. they could easily delete 80% of Frag and the map would improve greatly.

@DarthValtrexI'm all for a random spawn ltm. I'd expect we see a lot of quitters tho if they didnt get the location they want.

@DarthValtrex y I relook WE and I found 3 place are bad (for me in multi squads fight) but half of map places are boring to land.
look dude i hav 1k hours in apex I cant land in these boring places with new player or teammate who cant hand their fight
I cant expect form these player to loot in efficiency way and move fast to start fight. (they just loot fr 30 min and die in 5 sec)

    yellow = boring

red = bad in my opinion

Well, on my side, in more than a few matches, I've seen 0-2 teams dropping in Fragment and major fights taking place there only in Round 3. There's a healthy hot drop rotation in my lobbies these days, I don't think there's anything wrong with Fragment.

You need to accept the fact that people like gambling. Fragment is currently the Las Vegas of WE, as Skull Town was for KC and Estates is becoming for Olympus. There will always be places on maps with players swarming in like locusts.

@JonStriker126 I think the last version of KC had found the perfect balance for that map. WE in Season 3 and even Season 4 was fun, Season 5 is started to really take the turn for the everyone dropping to the frag area.

I'm noticing similar stuff on Olympus though, especially in the higher tier lobbies. People want to fight and I understand that's where the fun is. But if you accidentally drop to the slow side of the map it's boring waiting for the final ring/fight.

I won a match before ring 2 started closing. Everyone dropped to the Frag/Epicenter area of the map before ring 1 started closing it was down to 8 squads or so. Once 2 of those squads started fighting the remaining 6 pushed it. It was one big intense chaotic fight.

I think multiple drop ships with a maximum of 4-5 squads each going different directions across the map would solve this. Teams would be forced to drop to different areas.

Then people will complain "I had to drop to an area with bad loot" type of thing.

WE has so much potential if people would spread out on the map.

@DarthValtrex Multiple drop ships can be unfair. If your drop ship starts over a poor loot area or a place you hate, you can't compete for many other places, because other teams can have a lot of advantage dropping from closer ships. You'd be dead before touching the ground if trying to land there, as the enemy would be already on the ground and weaponized and you wouldn't even know how many they are and where they've landed.

A simpler alternative to multiple drop ships would be to make the droppers invisible and silent above a certain altitude. Still, this would be too much randomness at the beginning of the match, and players dying quickly after landing would angrily and rightfully blame the game for it.

@DoYaSeeMe I suppose, but.. So long as the drop ships pass over high tier loot areas I don't see what the issue would be. They would have to remove the gold items at places like Waterfall and remove the hot drop zone.

But if it spread out the squads more and dealt with rounds being over in the first 8-10 minutes wouldn't that be a benefit? I think it would be worth testing out in a LTM and see the community response. I'm sure the people the love the frag drops with 10+ squads would complain a bit.

Difficult position to be in as a dev. I don't mind some rounds that are over in 10 minutes but it's starting to be almost every round of PUBS everyone is dropping to Estates/Waterfall or the Frag area of WE. The only place where you get people spreading across the map is in Ranked and that's because they want to try and make top 5 placement for RP.

If they wanted to give players the opportunity to have hot drops like Frag occasionally, then just have the drop ships fly in an X pattern and meet at the center of the map at the same time. People who desire a hot drop with 10+ squads could still get it occasionally but it would not be every round. The rounds in which the ships take some what different paths would force teams to spread out over the map simply because not everyone can drop to the same location and make it there at the same time.

    I still like World's Edge.

    But I like Olympus better.

The return of World's Edge to me just points out that Apex learned from World's Edge and made their new map better.  And WE is a lesson learned from King's Canyon.  If every new map is an improvement at this rate, I think things are good for the game.

Original World's Edge was better than current WE though.  Whether with Mirage voyage, and/or Bloodhound cave, it's WE prior to season 6 I think that is the best version of that map.

@KelRiever Good point, I guess I just wish more squads would go to other places than Frag. I think they have shown that they learn from each previous season. KC final rendition was absolutely perfect for the map that it was. Sure I would miss skull town occasionally but it the overall play of the map had improved IMO from each season.
