Weapon Spotlight - Eva 8 & Havoc

Hi all!

It's weapon balance time! Last week we talked about the G7 and Alternator, check it here!

This week we're firing from the hip, with the Eva 8 Auto, and the Havoc Rifle

Do you hold onto the Eva for the whole match, or do you just use it to chase unlucky hot droppers off your lawn? Did the Shotgun ammo nerf hurt the gun badly for you? Is getting that satisfying full figure of 8 hitmarker work taking the dive in, or will you wear enemies down from a little further away?

Is the Havoc worth keeping even if you don't get a hop-up? I personally prefer the turbocharger, or are you more of a selectfire connoisseur?

Let us know what you think below!

    EVA 8

The Eva-8 is a full auto shotgun.

The Eva-8 is a very basic weapon.

The Eva-8 full auto is more harmful than helpful.

You can easily overspam the eva-8 full auto and be in for a long reload in a close range engagement.

This reload can easily get you killed.

The eva 8 has no downfall no con and no pros.

It is a basic full auto shotgun.

I have had a favorable experience with the Eva-8 in ranked.

I have been able to down more people with the Eva-8 in quick skirmishes than the peacekeeper.

The Eva-8 is more consistent than the peacekeeper and is able to deal more damage over time.

The Eva-8 is very powerful in close range combat, due to the fact many people underestimate it.

Many peple are willing to go heads-up against a Eva-8 only to meet their demise.

The Eva-8 is a great close range shotgun.

    Great against strafe dancing foes.

Better than peacekeeper in ranked queue because everyone is a strafe dance expert in ranked queue.

In ranked everyone will strafe dance your peacekeeper shots. While the Eva-8 will allow you to hit strafe dancing foes.

The Eva-8 is kinda boring, it needs something special. Maybe richochet rounds.

    ^^Terrible review.

  • Eva still best shotgun, Havoc still best energy gun. What more is there to say?

I think the Shotgun ammo stack could be upped to 24, with only 16 so few people are using shotguns you're unlikely to be able to restock on shotty ammo from any deathboxes.

I personally have not seen a single shotgun in a late game deathbox.

@Wingmannedbro  agreed...there really wasn't any benefit to reducing shotgun stacks in my personal opinion. It just made what is already a relatively unpopular weapon class even less so.

I do see the odd peacekeeper at endgame...but when i do they're usually fully stacked with attachments.

Never see an Eva-8 past mid game.

  • The Havoc has one of the worst gun sights! For M&K users on console and PC can just point, but when you have to aim it is awful!

    I play Xbox.
The Eva-8 is one of my favorite weapons in the game, but it has a few issues right now. Ironically, the havoc shares one of the issues, but I will get to the Havoc in a few.

The biggest issue with the Eva-8 IMO is hit detection. I can't believe I am saying this, but with the exception of the Mozambique, I believe the shotguns have the worst hit detection in the game.
This is a big problem because you generally need every shot to land correctly in order to win with a shot gun, especially late game against upgraded automatic weapons. This is one of the reasons the Eva-8 is hard to bring to late game situations. Sometimes terrible hit registration along with probably the longest reload time in the game is too much to make the weapon an option.

The 2nd issue also applies to the Havoc as well. The Havoc is in almost perfect condition as far as balancing goes. It has probably the largest learning curve, but it is also one of if not the most powerful gun in the game outside of sniper rifles.
The biggest issue with the Havoc late game is it is too hard to find ammo. This is also a big issue with the Shotguns. It is just too hard to find ammo if you don't already have it,.

Solutions: The shotgun ammo nerf definitely hurt. As many have said, 64 was probably alot, but the shotgun should be able to carry at least 24 rounds. And I would love a bigger mag for the Eva-8. 2 more shots would go a long way. A faster reload would help alot too, but I would probably do either or, not both together as that could make it too powerful.

A simple solution for the Havoc would be to allow you to hold more energy in your inventory. Or maybe you could have the option to convert light and/or heavy to energy. For example, you could irreversibly convert 40 light or heavy to 20 energy.
