What will Ash's role be in Apex Legends?

In the Season 5 Quest: The Broken Ghost, it is revealed that we rebuilt Ash, the simulacrum pilot from Titanfall 2.

Obviously this means she holds a significance in Apex Legends but it was just revealed Rampart will be the Season 6 Legend. So, why did we rebuild her and once she is operational what will her purpose be in the game?

First, let's look at Ash's origin and backstory:
Ash was once a valuable human pilot for the Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation (IMC) during the Frontier War, until her body was damaged beyond repair, so Hammond Robotics brought her back as a simulacrum.

When brought back she worked under Kuben Blisk's "Apex Predators" Clan, where both Ash and Blisk ran a Vinson Dynamics research facility.

While trying to rendezvous with Major Anderson of the Frontier Militia, Militia pilot Jack Cooper and his titan BT-7274 accidentally stumbled upon this facility, much to the anger of Blisk. When commanded by Blisk to kill Cooper, Ash kidnapped BT leaving Cooper without his Titan for the majority of the battle.

Although told to kill Cooper as quickly as possible, Ash decided to have some fun, by putting him in the simulation dome, where they made militia pilots fight.

When Cooper survived, Ash scuttled the ENTIRE facility in an attempt to kill Jack Cooper, but he escaped and reunited with BT, before Ash decided to show up in her Ronin Titan.

Cooper destroyed Ash with relative ease and managed to escape.

After the events of the Titanfall 2 campaign, Ash was rebuilt by Vinson Dynamics and was put in charge of the Remnant Fleet. It seemed her encounter with Jack Cooper affected her memory, so, similar to Wraith, Ash tried to find out about her past.

At some point she was broken again and for a few decades lay in a facility under Kings Canyon until the Legends took pieces of Ash's head from another dimension, repaired it and helped Hammond rebuild Ash.

We are not entirely sure as to how Ash got broken after being rebuilt by Vinson Dynamics, but Ash does mention something about Darion and Duardo and betrayal.

Darion and Duardo are people who live on Olympus, the city in the clouds of planet Psamathe. Lifeline and Octane know these people and are fearful of them.

My opinion is that Darion and Duardo, at some point, worked with Ash after she was rebuilt and betrayed her, resulting in her being broken AGAIN.

So Ash will serve an important role in the lore, but will she be a Legend? I'm unsure, as there has been no datamined/leaked information about her in the game files.

According to the leaked sheet we learned about Rampart from, the Season 7 Legend will be "Valk" and the Season 8 Legend will be "Blisk".

It's possible Valk is just a codename for Ash or Valk could be someone else entirely.

And we all know Blisk is Kuben Blisk, the currently missing commissioner of the Apex Games and former IMC-hired mercenary pilot.

I think Valk is actually Ash because if you've played Titanfall 2, you'll know Ash worked under the Apex Predators which Blisk ran during the Frontier War. Ash and Blisk were hired by the IMC to run a Vinson Dynamics testing facility but Ash was destroyed in a fight with the militia pilot Jack Cooper after she scuttled the facility in an attempt to kill Cooper. This means Blisk and Ash have a fairly long history.

If Blisk is the Season 8 Legend it will make sense for them to be released at the same time. Blisk might have a grudge on Ash because she scuttled a valuable facility in vain to kill Jack Cooper. Or Blisk may reform the Apex Predators and Ash will join.

In conclusion, Ash will definitely be important in the lore of Apex Legends, however we are unaware of her chances of being a Legend.

To answer your question asked in the title; to catch 'em all.

Now I'll read your post and might reply xD
  • @Koochi-Q I really hope Ash becomes important in the Apex Legends lore as I just love edgy, villainous characters and Revenant + Caustic just doesn't feel like enough antagonists.

I've also drawn an idea of her abilities:

    Passive - Pilot

You can wall-run for a duration of 3 seconds every 5 seconds and double jump every 5 seconds.

    Tactical - Vortex

Throw a device that opens a rift which sucks enemies towards it, making them vulnerable and easy to kill.

    Ultimate - Ronin Titan

Call in a Ronin Titan which takes 10 seconds to land. Once it lands you can embark it or fight as two separate units. The titan has a rapid-fire and low damage-per-bullet minigun as its primary weapon (usable if embarked). The titan can blink (think Nurse from Dead by Daylight) and use a sword as a powerful melee attack. You can eject or set off a self-destruct as well. If you are embarked in the titan and it is destroyed you will be knocked down and ejected from it.

It's also a possibility that the events Ash talks about in the Broken Ghost quest never happened in our dimension. Why?

Because we re-assemble the head of Ash from the shadow dimension, not ours, and place it onto the body of our Ash. Since Ash's head from that dimension remembers events that occurred to the Ash from that dimension, it's possible she's recalling events that never happened in our reality.

@CompleatBeet I didn't even clock that! Good point. That would be even better if she had a grudge that the other party knew nothing of as it hasn't happened in our dimension.

I really hope she's the next legend. She looks edgy as hell. Not too sure about that Ult you've suggested tho too much like TF to be balanced xD
