There aren't any direct numbers, but it does seem that the amount of cheats has increased by a lot.
At least, the amount of users complaining about cheaters has been more compared to other seasons.
Though of course, with this season the ranked cap was lowered back down to level 20, so it's possible that there are more cheaters in ranked now.
This wouldn't mean that there are more cheaters in general, but as the amount is typically lower in ranked, it might make it feel like there are more cheaters, whilst the distribution of cheaters between modes might've just changed.
The security team doesn't publish any data on how many have been banned, and overall it's hard to really gauge the number of them.
But it wouldn't be unreasonable to say that the amount of cheaters has probably increased with this season.
First of all we need to make sure what is "standard level" of cheating in free to play PvP games, and thats quite high as it is.
You know Fishing Planet the free to play fishing game?
Since its competitive in its own way there are of course cheats & hacks sold online for that as well just so you that you understand the mindset of people you are playing online...😃

Cat and mouse between devs & cheaters.Generally speaking (not targeted to you specifically but all gamers), in a way there are three teams: You, devs and cheaters.
When discussing cheaters the PirateSoftware streamer put it very well: Which side are you on? Are you on the same team as the devs supporting them on their endless battle against the cheaters or do you add in to their misery by thrashing them on every forum for not taking down the cheaters already?"First of all we need to make sure what is "standard level" of cheating in free to play PvP games, and thats quite high as it is."
What I have been hearing, the usual amount of cheaters in these kind of games is something between 25 to 35 percent. That number is what I've often seen while people are discussing on this topic.
"Are you on the same team as the devs supporting them on their endless battle against the cheaters or do you add in to their misery by thrashing them on every forum for not taking down the cheaters already?"
It's strange that you game up with this line to my post. Even though you added that caveat "(not targeted to you specifically but all gamers)" in it, you still saw the need to add it. The reason why I'm asking about this, is that even though I'm not a great player in this game, (might even be at the bottom of the rankings), it sometimes feels like somethings not right in this game. (Seen some very peculiar things in-game). But if there is a huge amount of cheaters in this game, I have no way to know how to improve myself. Because even if I didn't do any mistakes when I got wiped out, how do I know that.
So I genuinely want to know how likely it is that me being wiped out wasn't because of me. And even though I know that devs and to some extent the mods might be a little on edge with the topic, I still would like them to keep a neutral stance on it. Because I don't have the skill to help devs on this and I don't like to report players if I'm not relatively sure they are cheating. (Going to extend that I haven't reported some players even though I probably should have).
But I would still like to know the situation on this.

Cheating has become much less frequent since they removed 99% of the PC's from console Mixtape. I have been reporting far far far less since. Now it's just back to some XIM or insecure PS4 zen person, whom 80% of the time have zero game sense and the aim of a potato, and doesn't pose much of a problem.

@ArmoredBurbotPeople love crashing the servers as well when the game doesn't go their way. Just had a round where I was trying to finish a downed Lifeline, and all of a sudden, the server crashes. Of course I get a 10 minute penalty... it's happened twice this week so far.
It's almost like EA doesn't want people feeling comfortable spending money on this game?!
The general estimate, like you said, is something like 20-30% people are cheating to some capacity every single match with online shooters. There might be a couple exceptions like Valorant maybe?
When games are competitive, or you can stream and make money being "good" at a game, people will cheat. Games need to find ways to make their games a bit more casual friendly and not rely on solely winning 1v1's to gain any satisfaction from playing. Apex does that to some extent, but it needs to go further in my opinion. Obviously, they also need to continuously work on anticheats as well. "People love crashing the servers as well when the game doesn't go their way."
Just how exactly does one crash a server of this size? I know there are DDoS attacks in world, but we are talking about a gaming server. Those things should be able to withstand most minor and moderate DDoS attacks.
- @CCbathwater Sadly, I'm playing on PC... ☹️...

Bro trust me its just for anyone who views my post. But your second comment is right on the money.
I have written so many posts here about the game feeling rigged due EOMM throwing you into unbeatable matches for so many matches and then once they feel you have reached your limit you will be given a free pass. But with cheaters or different playstyle teammates (Yolo jumpmaster dropping us late to 5 team bonanza) you might even lose that free pass without even noticing it. Me who used to play pretty much only ranked at some point avoided Mixtape at all cost as I knew the EOMM would without a doubt give the free pass in that one. Just the other day I got destroyed over and over again in ranked. Didnt play for couple of days, warmup in Mixtape TDM and we win 50-15 or something and I have 15 kills...- AreYouShivering2 years agoNew AceNo update on cheating from Respawn, no playing.

Yes, the question is in the title. The problem is there as well. There are no numbers, there is no communication from the developer except the rare acknowledgement that they've done a "mass ban." The entire phenomena is shrouded in secrecy because as soon as anyone talks officially and openly about it then two things happen. Thing one, it makes it impossible for the casual player to pretend that there isn't a problem, making it easier to leave the game. And two, it establishes a psychological space where normal players are more willing to seek out cheats to level the playing field - cheats they now know for certain exist and are available because the developer publicly acknowledged them.
As @Airish85 said, people will cheat at anything if they think they can. If the game is free to play, so much the better.
So anything you see and hear on the subject is strictly anecdotal, but here's what I watch for when I'm playing. I don't watch for crazy feats of movement or even high-accuracy aiming. Those things are possible without cheating and prove nothing in and of themselves. What I look for, is a player with a launch skin and no badges or trackers, or very low number trackers, who looks like a new player... and who then goes on to mop up the lobby. One solo squad wipe after another. Of course, you can't know that's going on unless it's your own teammate. And that's how you know beyond a reasonable doubt. I don't see a lot of this in my lobbies, but I see it once in a while. Smurf or cheat, take your pick. They're evil either way. If I believed in a higher power then I could at least take comfort in the idea that they'll get what they have coming to them someday. But I don't. And they probably won't. And if they do, in the form of a ban, then they'll just start a new account and the wheels on the bus...
