@warslagthere are other games.
Rainbow 6 has a short prep phase, but it does have more depth and skill ceiling then apex.
Insurgency is just pure "combat"
Then all the rest like BF, CoD etc.
- 4 years ago@chrisragnar Of course there are other games. I play some of those games. I used to play Siege until I stopped enjoying it. I even used to play Apex Legends then gave it up for 10 'Seasons'. Now I'm playing it again and I have to say I think it needs a lof of work.
I heard there could be an Apex 2 in the works. If that's true then I hope it's not a loot simulator as well. They must prioritise gameplay over looting. That's the crux of this thread. But perhaps they just don't want to. It baffles me. Perhaps they just don't think making the game better will make them more money. This company seems impervious to criticism.
I have to laugh at your Battlefield 2042 suggestion though. I have it installed but have hardly played it. Same with BF: V. I did play Halo with some friends I made playing Warzone. But Halo is also terrible.
If you're determined like I am to play video games then it's something you have to accept. I think Apex is a very attractive game in terms of the art and the maps. The Legends are great etc. But all the looting just ruins it for me. I'll persevere for now, though.- 4 years ago@warslag In what way did they priorities looting? What mechanics are especially added for looting? Pressing e while looking at loot?
Well ok there is attachments, boxes and loot lockers.
I mean there is as much action as you choose too have. Pick Valkyrie and just go off solo you can basically just hot drop on enemy's all match long if you like. I'm not seeing why looting is the problem for you. And as I said if you don't want any looting at all you basically just have too play something els- 4 years ago@chrisragnar I am talking about the proportions of time spent looting versus the time spent in combat, and what that represents in terms of valid gameplay, to each player and as a community as a whole.
To me, it represents an enormous amount of time spent looting. What I come here for is combat. Because it's a BR, I expect to do some looting. But in Apex there is far too much of one and not enough of the other. The balance is grotesquely disproportianate towards looting for the majority of players, I would think.
If you stacked all the loot you had collected up against all the dead bodies you'd made, you would see a planet-sized stack of loot and only an aircraft hangar full of corpses (at best).
I actually checked our stats, and as long as I was looking at the right accounts, we are actually quite similar. We are each nearly level 400 and each have less than 1,300 kills (lifetime stats). Which is even worse than I thought.
What are we doing with our time whilst in-game? Oh, yes - looting.
But looting can, and frequently does, ruin teamwork. It often leads to teams being split up or players get annoyed about loot for some reason, etc. We've all been there.
I just want the balance redressed.
For all I care, they could have a game mode where all you do is collect loot - if that's what players want. Then whoever collects the most stuff wins. Perhaps, in a way, we're already there.
And, as I said, I'm going to be persevering with Apex for the time being. I've played lots of games and I know they differ. I like Apex and would like all this looting condensed a lot.
