- @Marge010 I've never tried a smaller monitor but usually the refresh time is shorter. Plus you see the whole screen more. Tvs have come a long way tho. Most decent rated ones for gaming have times that are low enough now. I personally prefer my TV just because I sit in an office chair all day and would much rather be on the couch.
Gamers who use monitors/small TVs sit at less than arm's reach from the screen. Going from playing on a home TV to playing on a high quality 27" monitor changed my game completely. I'm an older player like yourself, and wear my strong reading glasses when playing. I can see SO much more than when I was on a TV. I would literally never go back to playing that way, I'd rather not play.

since there is no 120hz support yet for the consoles, it doesnt really apply that the smaller TVs are better.
as @hayhor mentioned smaller monitors might have a higher refresh rate than the bigger ones, but that does only apply to pc gamers since they can up the frame rate to actually profit from the refresh rate

I walked away and realized I was thinking of a different forum member when I wrote that - sorry if I am incorrect but I'll just leave it.
It all comes down to preference, really. My young duo partner is light years ahead of my game play wise, and he plays on a giant TV.
@Marge010that makes no sense to me either. Maybe you are talking to fans of the Nintendo Switch? 🙂
If that was true, everyone would play it in the smallest window possible.- PeterN_UK3 years agoSeasoned Ace@Marge010
If a person has to turn their head to look at things on a big TV. Then they're too close. Big TV lets you sit further away.
Monitor it's right in your face, you can identify pixel movement in distance.
But at end of the have to look at specs between actual TV and Monitor as they vary:
- Response time
- Input lag
- Pixel density
Then afterwards see how FOV feels to your own preference. Higher FOV gives more visual awareness left and right. Low FOV for better distance aiming. If playing on PC, keeping same native resolution but lowering the graphics to have less clutter to see things.
Don't use monitor or TV speakers. Use headphones/ear buds etc. Don't need things to sound better, just clearer. I hear team mates playing in living room with background family noise and feedback from TV sound to mic. Playing like that such disadvantage . Audio in this game is no.1 awareness in this game. - @pandareno1999 Same for me. I always used to play on my tv, but ever since I started using the 27" monitor, I don't really like gaming on the tv anymore. I don't mind playing an RPG or Madden/NHL on the tv, but any shooters or racing games, I have to be on the monitor. I also use blue blocker glasses, which are wonderful
