Seriously though, Companies like EA, Bethesda and Activision as well as Deviantart are only doing this primarily, if not entirely for show. Same for the #metoo BS.

It's too bad we have to wonder where company loyalties lie in that are they doing things to make money and just for show or do they really mean it?

Like Blizzard basically bashing their own esports players who protested the Chinese government.

THE GOOD NEWS:  This whole 'don't bring politics to a gaming forum' thing or really anywhere has to be over.  If you believe in free speech, you can't be like 'I don't want censorship!' and then be like 'I don't want even civil talk about politics because I came here just to talk games!'

Maybe as long as people respect each other, they should get to talk about whatever they want, hmmn?   And if you want to talk about gaming, you can just not read the political stuff and talk about the gaming stuff.  Like you always could :D

@KelRieverI agree, although at times it should be discouraged, you should be able to discuss any topic and in any forum without being concerned about censorship, unless it's illegal but we live in strange times.

@KelRieverYes but asking for international corporations (and virtually all communities) to back such causes, especially when politics or idiology is involved,never amounts to anything other than meaningless and usually hypocritical lip service.

No company will deny themselves the market in the middle east, to protest their prosecution of homosexuals, even in countries where being gay is punishable by death (note that its always benificial for both, the company and local government).
But that doesn't stop them from plastering all their accounts with rainbows and lip service on gay month.

How often do you see companies proclaim how much they love freedom on 4th of July only to censor the * out of something to appease the will of Big Daddy Xi (or worse, Jeff Kaplan can tell why they call him "Big Daddy" after all of his "lip service" he did for him 😉)so they won't be denied the chinese market?

I would rather have people spend their time protesting and advocating changes to their governments rather than spending their time with international companies, that way something can get actually done, and not look like a * wasting his time and energy.

@BigBlackCaustic Yeah, well, point well taken.  Putting on a hat or a badge is the beginning of showing your solidarity with something, not the end, or even the rest of the beginning.

And, frankly, Blizzard can go implode for all I care with how they treat their own players when money is involved.

But to me you don't get results by staying quiet about it, or 'not talking politics' and sorry, I don't consider BLM a political movement. I consider it a movement political parties are trying to hijack.  There is no room for gestapo tactics that we've all seen police enact on videos.  Anyway, point here is about posting a BLM moniker.

If it's one thing that's good about what happened to Blizzard, is that they weren't quiet about their support for certain things, so when they went full hypocrite, it was laid bare.  They couldn't keep the posters in their forum down, no matter how many threads were deleted.  And, frankly, by being such bald faced liars, they've paid the price.  This game, Apex, still ranks higher than their multi-million dollar upfront Overwatch project.  Gotta be glad for that, actually, considering how they are.

So I say, this is better than nothing said at all. Besides, we all know it was never politics, or religion, or ideologies that caused problems in any forum.

It was spam, people treating others without respect, and bullying.  Basically all problems you still have regardless.  it's just that people like to pretend it's different, certain topics, and not how they're acting themselves.

I did not mention any movement specifically for a good reason, i made my point universal, its better if both the company and the customers don't involve in that.

Yes Blizzard was the loudest, and paid the biggest price for it. Also they encouraged and invited people to spam their own politics in and make often silly demands. Take a look on the OW forum, where race and sexuality etc, (on top of their mob rule justice) are more often discussed than the game itself, if Blizzard would try to appeal to them, they would sacrifice their creative freedom almost entirely, there is a lesson to be learned.. Im not saying against or downplay any effort to make a change, but when it comes IRL to video games its just silly.
